 External Drive unable to delete files

Try different cable. Try different port.
Check the folder or file is locked.
Check the permission of the folder & file. And your user account have the right permission.
You might want to try “ignore permission and ownership” for the external drive.
Or
Google how to to use SUDO rm command in terminal to get rid of the files / folder.

If still can’t there might be issue with the structure of the drive. Or physical damages.

Only one particular file or folder or the entire drive you can't write/ edit in MacOS?

I suggest you check if your drive are NTFS (windows format), and you rely on some driver/ app in MacOS to enable the read and write.

Sometime MacOS update/ upgrade will break those driver/ app, you might want to update those app to newer version.
