Hi all... Wanna seek feedback whether I'm underpaid or undervalued by the managers & higher up.
Been thinking long if should jump or not.

Since I'm from a technical & math background, i did outperform other colleagues in term of analytical skills (got several feedback from other colleagues & stakeholder),
guiding others (more senior than me) on how to use some of the Business Intelligence tools, what kind of insights should be given etc.
Heck, i even did several reporting process/task automation to expedite others BAU working time.

Disappointed to hear they didn't count the experience & contribution during i'm in the contract position. Had i known earlier, I would've jump elsewhere to make my working time counted.
Is this standard evaluation practiced at others comp, to not count contract position experience?

Might sound cruel, but you are 28 earning less than 3k. Of course you are underpaid.

My tips is, spend some time to beautify and improve your CV and network, and start to just apply for jobs. Doesn't matter if it fails, doesn't matter if no response. You will get one and you will find out what's the market price for you.

My bad, forgot to mention once the yearly increment kicks in, my basic would be RM3.2 starting next month.

You need to polish up your resume, I would also try not to mention SLIM/Protege because I know a lot of companies tend to have a certain bias to candidates in that program. Also instead of focusing on what you did, mention what you accomplished during that period, what was the outcome and what value you brought. All the best in your job search

Thanks both for the advise & best wishes.
Ya, i kinda sense the bias towards SLIM/Protege candidates.
Understand some graduate from this program maybe lacking/poor quality.
But, they shouldn't generalise & put stereotypes, instead really evaluate each person's value & capability.
Noted..will improve my CV, and yes I do have few achievement up my sleeve.
Hopefully the hiring manager/HR will see it as promising & competent.

I think you are underpaid. Maybe get some professional certification to upscale yourself while looking out for better opportunity.

Do you have like some examples or suggestions what kind of certificate?
I did have Data Analytics training certificate from a training provider & data consulting company prior joining the bank.

Your bonus is above average @ 3 months. I do agree that you should be earning higher but you also need to take note that you have only 2 years experience thus far - so it's tougher for companies to give u a huge bump in increment.

When I was 28, I had about 5 years experience, so was earning 70% more compared to what you are currently drawing at 3.2k.

Yup2... it's not actually about whether my age level at certain level i should be getting certain pay range.

Understand it'll come down to experience years accumulated and the achievement/contribution that made, instead of the age factor.

Maybe I had leave out some important info for you guys to take into consideration.

For that 2 years period, i actually undergo 2 transition in term of reporting line.

For 1 year I'm reporting to a VP rank manager. I've made a very good impression to this manager.
Then for some reason my manager unable to continue.
After that, I'm reporting directly to the department Head.
Here's, the learning curve is very steep & the direction/guidance from the head is very minimal, as you know its a head department, don't have time at all.
Hence majority of the time, I've been working independently thru all other stakeholders.
Then this year comes new hire with AVP level which I'm reporting to currently. This manager is coming from non banking/finance industry. Been three months already, I'm still the one who providing the direction, fronting stakeholders engagement & leading the project. The new person just comes into the picture when need to present the updates in meetings which includes higher up. All the background work & coordination still been led by me, this manager will always just wait for my direction on how to proceed.
Spent so much time explaining things to him/her, but this new manager still got confused with a lot of things & let other to resolve the issue instead of leading it. Seems like his/her project management skills is bit lacking. In addition to be very new to the banking industry.

As i said above, I've made good impression to the 1st manager.
But he/she is not around when I'm being converted to permanent, and i think department Head just see me as just an average level employee, not really seeing the true picture i guess.

Feeling like the responsibility is not par with the pay I'm getting & previous contribution didn't being compensated fairly. What do you guys think?

Wow...i wrote a lot! Haha

Hi guys,

For banking industry, what is the pros n cons of being in a Business Unit vs Support Unit/Business Enabler (Technology, Data infra, or HR?

In term of compensation, career progression (faster or took longer time to move up), and working culture & environment.

Am just planning for the long term. Appreciate any feedback 😊.
