With that pay range >rm20k, i assume you were stationed in oil rig offshore and only come home once in awhile?

What's a reasonable salary for fresh degree graduate for audit associate working in big 4 and the rest these days? Is 2.3k really that low? Mid-tier firm. Not too tiny.

I've heard from my friend that fresh grads in KPMG are getting about 2.85k

😱 How about the salary for fresh grad in Big 4 now?? tq

I'm just curious if the pay range is from oil&gas offshore or there is also similar pay range from non offshore jobs in the similar field.

Pretty sure there’ll be a difference if it’s the same candidate being offered these 2 different options. But, don’t be surprised and dismayed that a Caucasian may end up drawing a higher pay onshore for the same position, than a local...

The first one posted a year ago looks legit, though on the high side since you have spent 4.5y in the company. I expected ~15% lower. I remember there was a time when having a Fellow in an actuarial society would command easily 50k per month.... seems like market is getting saturated.
*
50k per month will be HoD level.

KL market is saturated, even local talents in Indonesia/Thailand etc getting higher pay than us.

My previous company was classified as a service provider for O&G clientele so my job was dependent on the contracts which varied from short 2-3 days offshore to 60 days with 1 day resets in between every 28 days.
Didn’t mind being offshore as typically i spent more time on standby goyang kaki than working whilst getting extra allowances. Free food, wifi and 24 hours AC was the best.

On the other hand, being stuck onshore in base was the worst. Try working 3 months straight without weekends or holidays and putting up with illogical deadlines round the clock. My most memorable and bitter working experience was a few occasions of clocking in at 8am and clocking out at 8am.

Everything indeed has a price and during that period, the price was high pay for no time and life. Planned vacations, holidays and trips could be cancelled at moments notice any given time.

But heck, looking at my bank acc at the end of each month sure did make me forget the pain.

You know, what you described there could also pass for internship (Housemanship) experience. Except we got paid peanuts for the same crazy hours and no-life workdays, hahaha.

Getting a high salary is all dependent on your field, company, position and skillset.

At age 23 i was making an average of 10K/month and my highest take home pay per month was 30K. Some may say it’s extremely high, but in that particular field that salary range is still considered to be low.

Fast forward to 2020, im 30 now and only making 5K/month. Drastic drop to what i was used to but everything has its pros and cons. Expected from changing fields.

Do i miss the high pay? Of course but when i recall all the shit I’ve dealt with and time spent working i do appreciate my current circumstances to live within my means as an average joe.

Your worth in an organisation is all relevant to your value and hence reflects on your salary.

No point to be comparing with other on whats their worth, there’ll always be someone who’ll put a bigger/better something on the table.

My humble 2cents
Peace.

This is certainly enlightening to hear and thanks for sharing. At times statements like this allow us to take a step back and ponder that not everything is about dollar and cents. Wish you all the best!

It’s the fastest way to get good increment. Staying in the same company may or may not get you far in terms of increment goes.
