Flexi working hours is nice to have these days especially when traffic is bad during peak hours.Your dental / optical benefit is pretty good too. Most company does not provide that at all.

Most companies use your current salary to draw your next salary, it is how it works in the market today.
Reveal your current salary, ask for an increment percentage that seems fair to you. There is no right or wrong in this, you can ask to double your current salary and it is up to the hr and hiring manager to judge if you are worth the money. |

QUOTE(party @ Jul 5 2019, 08:20 AM) yes you are right though alot company will ask your current salary (some with intention to lowball you). Usually that is the first question hr asks when they approach you no?I got 50% increase when jumping to new company and reveal my current company salary only after agreed on the new salary cause need to submit to HR to make sure my PCB contribution to LHDN is correct. |

QUOTE(party @ Jul 5 2019, 10:02 AM) No. My new co hr never ask during the interview stages. They only ask after agreed on my new compensation packages n ask me submit my old salary n payslip n fill up form so they can pay the correct pcb amount for me. Good for you then. I have changed job 3 times. Been asked that question on all 3 occasions, hence my mindset of the question being mandatory. |

QUOTE(party @ Jul 5 2019, 06:47 PM) You can try to not reveal and see their reactions. If really forced then no choice. Some co okay with you not revealing but will still ask cause wan to try luck. Maybe its my luck then. I think Malaysia HR is still stuck with the mindset of having the employee's previous salary as a benchmark for their next salary. Is it because they couldn't judge how much is the employee is worth paying by looking at his resume and interview results? |

QUOTE(hyperbelt7 @ Jul 11 2019, 03:58 PM) I'll rather they ask about past salary as a benchmark for next salary, otherwise what do you suggest? I've no idea how it works at other countries though. Past salary as a benchmark does not work for those who feel that they are underpaid in their current job. I think that is their main concern. |

Can I use current job salary as benchmark to request for at least 15%~20% increase? Or what is percentage of increase/decrease sound reasonable for jumping into new field? 4. Does CFA help in this case? I am planning to take CFA course in 2020. appreciate if you can share some advices to me. |

QUOTE(Hardcore Leveling Warrior @ Jul 16 2019, 01:13 PM) i worked in my current company (MNC) for 8 years, current salary (including allowance) is RM10k. still not in senior position. Does the title really matters? Having a different title means different responsibility that is all.how much should i expect if promoted to senior position? I have been promoted to senior before and the increment is just slightly better than my normal annual increment. To me it is not worth it as my workload is almost doubled after that. |

QUOTE(GenericGuy @ Jul 16 2019, 06:05 PM) Using a throwaway account as I'm a lurker in /k and my username could be a giveaway for such a small industry So you are those who writes stock recommendations?Job Title : Sell-side equity analyst Job Description : Provide equity research services and investment recommendations to buy-side analysts and fund managers Age : <30 yrs old Years spent in industry : >5 yrs Industry : Finance Employment Level : Irrelevant Tenure : Permanent Highest paper qualification/ education background : Degree, CFA Location : A local broker in KL Average Working Hours Per Day (incl lunch hours): Varies from 30-80 hrs a week, but need to clock in early in the morning at 7+ am Monetary Payout Basic salary & bonus : Around RM300k per annum Remarks - Team structure is relatively flattish and your value is entirely dependent on your own franchise a.k.a. recognition from the clients and how much they value your input and ideas, also the intensity of the services provided - The revenue pie is definitely shrinking as clients are gradually cutting the brokerage rates to reduce trading cost and also due to the onset of algo trading and more DMA-based trading. Therefore, the stockbroking career isn't as lucrative as what it was years ago. The current mundane market also does not help - Since research reports are more or less viewed as being commoditized due to the sheer amount of analysts covering the same set of companies, the challenge is always about how to provide value-added insights to the industry - The best perk is that I can dictate my own entire work and pace, hence the flexibility in when and where I do my work. This could also backfire as there are no concrete deadlines on our work |

QUOTE(adamfoo90 @ Jul 22 2019, 11:21 PM) By right It only stated 3 months Probation. I think you have to be proactive and contact HR about this. I am sure they can give you an answer. But the key is that, Up till now I have yet to receive my appointment letter. It's been like... 4 months+ since i worked here. So I'm like ghost employee now. |
