hello all
i'm currently using 3200+ and wish to upgrade to 4200+ X2 on my 939

anyway, i just spotted this on AMD's website when browsing for drivers
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver Version 1.3.2.0053 for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (x86 and x64)

what's the difference for this and the dual-core optimizer?

That's the CPU driver. It's different from the optimizer. Look in the first page, the links are provided..... smile.gif You need to install all of them....

Should be. As long as your mobo supports it, just follow the instructions and you'll get dual core capabilities! rclxms.gif Make sure you fit the heatsink back properly....

Haha, long time no talk. Eh, I thought you know such things?

Anyway, I never played with the NB voltage for my 939 so I don't really know either.

What do you mean by increasing the HTT? Is it the multiplier or the frequency? In general, you don't overclock the HTT, especially not more than 1000mhz. Usually reduced the multiplier as you increase the fsb. smile.gif

LOL..Been away recently. Busy with work and my PSP..LOL..

Just recently back to computing and gaming and all of a sudden, found out some problems with my PC. Probably hate me for leaving him so long..LOL..

Anyway, i know some information but not totally confirmed about it. Therefore, just came over and reconfirm everything. I needed to try and increase the voltage on my NB to see whether specific problem persist or not. About the HTT, maybe i should reconfirm and see which one it is..LOL.

Damn, my hardware knowledge is going down the drain. Guess i should start updating myself again..LOL.. tongue.gif

AM2 also has the same problem if you upgrade from a single-core to a dual-core.

However, this problems only applies to XP. No worries if you're using Vista.

So this mean whether i use 939 or AM2 i will still need to use the guide you provide to exploit dual core power? What if i just change the proc from single to dual without installing what you mention except for the dual core driver? Would my PC boot like normal?

Yup. I will boot and work like normal. Just that you may experience lagging during gameplay....
