Also, I would like to ask about graduating from a UK university with a UK degree after 2.5 years in IMU.

Are we seen as an International Medical Graduate? Or does the govt. consider us as an international doctor?

When finding work placements in the UK, are there discriminations between "international" med students that graduated from the UK(eg.singaporian that graduated from Leeds) and us who have only partially studied medicine in the UK?

Thanks!

You will be seen as a UK graduates as you will be holding the degree from UK university, not IMU's. Work placements, I believe there's no discrimination as you will already be seen as a 3rd/4th/Final year students there.

Hey guys

I'm applying to Imu for Feb 2015 intake. Will intend to start in August 2015 though. Anyone knows if imu readily allows deferment? Still serving my country haha

Hi there, which course are you taking? Is it Medicine?

As for what to pay upon accepting the offer, there are 2 options for you to pay. One is one-off payment, which is pay the full semester fee at once. The other one is by installment, which is half of the semester fee.

Hello 👋  thanks for the prompt reply smile.gif

Yes, indeed I am applying to medicine (IMU-PMS).

Ah, they seem flexible enough. So that means they still require payment of one sem fees and not just admin fees?

Does it then mean that I have pay the registration fees and safety deposit on TOP of the full sem/half sem fees?

Also regarding installments of half Sem fees, i assume only 2 installments? And that it cannot overlap with the 2nd sem fees?

Thank you smile.gif

Alright, then your question regarding the deferment begs the same answer given by aong above.

If I recall correctly, yes, you need to pay those admin fee + deposit on top of the semester fee. Yes, there are only 2 installments each semester. What do you mean by overlapping with the second semester fee? Did you mean holding the payment of the 2nd installment of Semester 1 and pay in Semester 2? I think they will charge you an overdue fee.

Cheers smile.gif

Alright I understand it clearer now smile.gif  thanks for the help! I was referring to defaulting semester pay till the following month.

I have calculated the misc feels outside of tuition fees and they amount close to RM15k ALONE. Am I expected to pay that much before I even enroll? With tuition fees, the first sem cost reaches close to Rm70k.

I can't believe it's so much.
*
How did you get RM15k? But this are only my experience 3+ years ago. Don't take my words for it. You will know how much to pay when you get an offer letter.

Hello, i'd like to know more about IMU ... How is the apartments over there? Where do students stay normally? What about food? Surrounding is there any restaurants? And is there any entertainment or shopping complexes nearby?

Oh! And what is the dresscode for the students? Especially girls... Pharmacy course.. smile.gif))

Hmmm, first, where are you from? Will you be having a car around? The apartments (Vista Komanwel, Savannah, Covillea) are generally good, depends on your standard. For Vista, rent can be around RM200-RM700 depends on the room size, furnishings and utilities included or not. You can try access this FB group for information about Vista https://www.facebook.com/groups/124237717600780/. There are 3 Vista condo, mainly Vista A, B and C. Vista B is directly opposite IMU, hence price might be slightly higher. Vista C is just 200m away, and have the best security among the 3 Vista condos. Vista A is slight further and is the oldest condos, hence smaller rooms/units.

Savannah will be slightly expensive as it's a newer one and with bigger rooms. Another condo, which is the newest one near to IMU is Covillea. It's very spacious and the renting price, i'm not so sure, but their facilities are very good.

As for the dresscode in IMU, it's formal wear. However, I have not seen much girls wearing super formal shirt with collar and stuff. Just make sure you dont wear a skirt that's too short, they are now getting more strict about this.

Oh thx so much! biggrin.gif i m frm ipoh btw, so i ll not be havin a  car wit me . sad.gif sooo, is tat a problem? Are u IMU student? Can u pm me more about studying in imu? biggrin.gif

Nope, not having a car is not a BIG problem. There's LRT station right opposite IMU as well. But you should be alright if you want to have some enjoyable/nice/good food outside IMU as you will be having lots of friends (including seniors!) around with cars.

I am currently an IMU student, 3rd year of Dentistry. Hence, I couldn't help you much about studying pharmacy in IMU. What do you want to know?

Well just about anything on hows life studying in IMU.. haha. Ok? Fun?  As IMU is just a building so are the facilities ok? And what about entertainment there? The nearest shopping complex ?
*
Haha, well, the most fun part will be the orientation. As for the course itself, I have no idea. There are a lot of clubs to join as well. The facilities in IMU actually improved a lot since the year I entered. The gym is renovated last year, as well as the student lounge. Even the cafeteria is also renovated. New food vendor is introduced. Coffee vendor also just started to sell in IMU, called TheMadAlchemy. Nearest shopping complex will be Endah Parade, but that complex has nothing in it. There's also Midvalley and Sunway Pyramid which is just about 15 min drive away.

For dresscode, is blouse (sleeveless?) and pants allowed for females? Not really a fan of skirts. Do you see females wearing one-piece dresses?
*
Sleeveless blouse? Nope, don't see them wearing them, and I doubt they will try wearing it in IMU, as some of the classes can be cold haha. Yes, quite a few of them wear dresses. No problem with dresses.

Well thx a lot! Wat about food... Whr do u guys normally eat... ? Do u have restaurants around? And sports facilities bsides gym? Like swimming pool ? Hmm i dun think they hv it at imu... The condo i suppose?
*
Food, hehe, we tend to drive out for food. Maybe just because we are more of a food hunter. There are actually pretty good food around Sri Petaling also, just 5 min drive from IMU. If there's no time to drive out, there are plenty of food stall outside of IMU, like chee cheong fun, mixed rice, nasi lemak and so on. Sports facilities beside the gym? There's a basketball court, which can be used as volleyball court and futsal court as well. As for swimming, it's just in the condo, or the stadium just walking distance from IMU. Badminton court is in Vista B.
