They didnt enroll straight from pre-u. Prolly with first degree in another field, or a late bloomer.

john hopkins is coming to malaysia for graduate entry. maybe you can wait for that.
*
for non sc grads, there will be a 18 months conversion course.

which totals up to 5 1/2 years anyway. pre-u + mbbs now = 6 years.

not of a sudden. been thinking of it for 8 years.

whilst piling up money for masters degree overseas, i realized that i could pay of a couple of years of medical degree locally with all that money. previously, i couldnt do it because of monetary restraint smile.gif

am exploring my options smile.gif else i'll just settle with my initial plan of a masters degree biggrin.gif

what do u want to do for masters?

just now you said you not science background, then why want to do MBBS?  blink.gif

MSc in Health informatics.

--

I was offered full scholarship to study IT. Back then I got C3 for Chemistry and C4 for Biology - so I didnt have the confidence to earn 4.0 in matriks/STPM to get into IPTA medic. IPTS/overseas were out of the picture because of $$$.

I felt a higher calling in life. If I want to do it for the money, I may as well just continue doing what I do now. Lucrative without the crazy hours.

what did you do for entry into the 1st degree?........

by that i infer either one or more of the following....

1. you did not do a science based pre-u

2. you did, but did not meet the cutoff

3. you did not do a science based 1st degree

4. you did, but did not meet the minimum cgpa of 3.5
*
1. and 3.

I did foundation in IT. Which is useless outside the university itself smile.gif

then you are stuck.....you will need good foundation and results in chemistry (+/_ biology)........

i am against the 'passion' ('higher calling') type of entry into medicine.....and like i always said many time before, nobody without straight a's in spm should consider doing medicine......

that is just my personal opinion of course, and in real life, even arts stream students gets into some med schools.....

but my opinion obviously resonates with many countries.....just look at how uk/oz/usa selects their med students.....

Yeap am pretty much stucked.

You dont have to apologize for your opinion. You're entitled to it smile.gif

Added on October 7, 2010, 2:29 pmProlly passion without action is as bad as action without passion. Lets see where I end up a year from now biggrin.gif

So much rage to be pissed about one lecturer. In life you'll meet a lot of unpleasant people - if you cant handle one person how are you going to handle many many unpleasant patients? And to get personal is uncalled for - who cares if she said 5k is not enough or the fact that she tells you that you're incompetent. It just reflects back on her inability to manage money and her insecurity towards the fact that she doesnt like to do bedside care.

If you cant learn to pick and choose out whatever life throws at you - nursing is definitely not for you.

@Julian
Just finish your degree there, and prove yourself worthy during your HOship. There are lousy doctors from local institutions too.

yes IMU requires students to take them no matter what if you want to get in med. The government requires their student to take MUET or something.
really? My friends who did ESL in SAM didn't need IELTS to get into Monash.

Yes. I'm sorry for your unfortunate. IMU used to take in students regardless of their performance in SPM and only take in students based on their pre-u results. Right now, no more.
*
It's due to the new guideline by the government.
