it is premature to think about this, you have 2 1/2 years to go before matching, in fact, it's 3 years, as you only do matching end on 2015....things will change....

just list your preferences, most people will not get their 1st choice.....and just go where ever you are matched....

this is the BIGGEST problem with the imu-pms programme...people do NOT know where they will end up, till the last moment...the uncertainty is unsettling....difficult to make financial planning...

A JPA-scholar will experience more uncertainties since there are 3 parties involved in the univ selection; JPA, IMU and the Univ itself. Imagine a Venn diagram consists of 3 overlapping circles.

My niece got her 3rd choice, her 1st one being Nott Univ (Jan 2013 intake). She's hoping to be able to continue the clinical part immediately after she finished her 5th semestar last month hence her first choice of Nott Univ. But no rezeki for her, now lepaking until Aug 2013 to continue her study.

I am applying to pms by the way.
They looked at my result and said I am eligible to apply, but I am not sure whether i will meet the cut off or not.
I am still waiting them to give me the interview date.

Not meaning to scare you, my niece's friend (they are JPA scholars) was deemed "not qualified" for pms by IMU, based on the interview which was conducted prior to A Level exam. He went on to scored straight As in A Levels, appealed to IMU to qualify him for pms but was turned down (the boy cheekily post his A Level results and the 2nd rejection letter from IMU for the pms program on his FB for all his friends to see. smile.gif ).

Fortunately JPA allowed him to maintain his scholarship but he had to do his medical course at IMU for the full 5 years. And he excelled in the pre-clinical phase (probably to show to IMU that he's a truly doctor material biggrin.gif ). He will continue the clinical phase at the Seremban Hospital soon.

Well, moral of the story is, you'd better do well in the interview. Getting straight As in ALevels does not guarantee a place in pms. Good luck! wink.gif

if the "assessment" of local medic graduates is true and IMU grads rank highly, the local programme could also be very popular due to its overall reputation.

Also looks like the pms stream is the only option for many who wanted to go to oz and uk. Not sure how many will get to uk direct for this Sept 2013 intake. Just hope that the authorities there consider bolehland more favourable as most if not all the applicants meet the minimum requirements. Most lost out on the personal statement.

I heard a year ago that our Health Ministry conducted a closed survey amongst senior doctors on the HOM in the GH. HOM's from IMU was ranked no 1 and those from UM was no 4. This survey results were never made public.
