hi senior, i'll be going in next feb, and am thrilled

any advice on how to survive medical school? for example, what was your method of studying? do the lecture notes and textbooks cover almost everything that you need to know for your exams? do lectures suffice? did you have to do extra reading outside? what is your average week like? or any other advices for me?

Although not directed to me, this is something I have to say.
As a medical student, your will be having lots of studying to do. Each person is different and studying methods vary. Lecture notes are there to help guide you with your studies, it is enough for certain lectures, not enough for some, you'll have to use a bit of sense in that. Do note that you do have to read a lot, lectures, books, even RELIABLE internet resources. (Honestly, wiki is a good place to start but for more detailed stuff medscape etc are awesome). As far as I can remember when I was in IMU, average week consists of very few lectures, hours outside lectures are used (and they expect you to) study and revise.
Do note that if you're in the PMS stream, different schools conduct their courses differently, placing slight emphasis on different things. Be adaptable.
But regarding October Fly's post that books are your lecture notes and text books. Please, do not do that. There is definitely much more to life than just that. Do enjoy your life no matter what you do. Exams are going to tough and exam periods are going to be one of the most challanging periods you'll have to date. Still, take time off for yourself, you are as important as your studies.
