not smart. just studied the important things and dont go too overboard with details.

hmm, i know of 6A's this time around. maybe theres more. but highly unlikely. so its basically 3A and 3A minus.

Class median is 59%. SD of 10%.

ahaha 2011 only can ciao.

Nah, Melbourne for me is convenience, family, friends all that. and of course melb u being the best uni for medicine in aust. It is probs the best uni offered to twin to in IMU.

Pass is C. 50%
*
lots of people will disagree with you, and certainly unis like edinburgh, uq, , even unsw will beg to differ.....

melb's 'prestige' is all about branding, rather than actually being significantly better, and they flogged their ranking status (once the highest ranked oz uni) to death by charging significantly more fees from international students, who, the majority it seems, are willing to part with their money just so they have the dubious prestige of having a melb degree...........

Not really. Melbourne Uni's current medical course is probably the best in Australia. Some universities have approached Melbourne to 'borrow' our PBL cases and train their tutors.

The branding probably comes with the other courses like Commerce or Engineering.

But, then again, I may be bias.

So, its up to you to decide.

CR7: If you ever come here, our semester 2 mean was about 70%.

There may be other reason why they wanted to 'borrow' Melb's PBL cases. Here's a few possibilities:

1. Some people called PBL teaching-on-the-cheap. May be they want to save money also?
2. No point re-inventing the wheel.

well I know for a fact , Melbourne U's eng or commerce department is really easy to get into with A levels result. Maybe thats downplayed their rankings? I know for a fact their Medical Program is prestigious enough, that when people always talk about partnering, Melb U is the most sought after.

Woah thats one very high mean. The quality of the students in your class must be outstanding. rclxub.gif

Lets discuss about PMS shall we? Like how does grades, ECA affect your ranking, its something chika is gonna face in a few months time and me in about a years, but no harm done! and would like any of our past seniors to comment and advice us best on getting our preferred universities.

great...i dont think any other universities would be joining PMS...i mean they can't just be filing out one after another. if so then their numbers would diminish to ...what? 12? i dunno maybe am being pessimistic, but i don't want having my options narrowed!!!!!this is so depressing they shud be looking for new partner med schools to replace the ones leaving....urgh had to have an emotional outlet hehe back to you:

Nottingham and Warwick has just been added. ANU's announcement is also new to us. So IMU is still looking for more universities to twin to. Or at least increased allocation for each university.

do notice that places of auckland have reduced drastically from 25 per yr (M1+M2) to 8 per yr

the dean who came last month told me it's because they wanna reserve more places for the locals. hmm.gif

herballife i think they just reject students who are citizens or PR of their respective countries, not exactly all international students
i'm not 100% sure though

these are very important and vital information, and all students, especially prospective ones, should take note......

imu is considered a BACKDOOR entry into these pmr, and it is up to them to impose whatever conditions. also, it is primarily a pathway for malaysians, and initial agreements with the pms will stipulate as such. thus, the requirement by nz that only msians will be accepted. there is a serious shrinkage in the number on nz places.

in total, it appears the number of places in the southern hemisphere is shrinking, and will get much more competitive.......note that many require NO failure or repeats, that will effectively eliminate maybe 30-40% of students in any cohort. Note that about 20% fail eos2.........

I believe this is a win-win arrangement for both IMU and these overseas medical school.

Here's my rationale.
Assuming Nottingham uni can only take in 300 student for Year1. When it gets to Year3, 20 of them would have dropped out due to either personal reasons or having failed their examinations alone the way. And these 20 places can then be given to IMU.

Off topic. People accept the fact that medical school can be called 'school'. Except in Malaysia, anything without ending with the word "university" must be lousy. Tell them you go to King's or Imperial College and they think it is not a proper university.
