Just a mere formality. If too many applicants, can be a bit subjective though.
*
So what you are saying is that they only care about your result and money not the interview performance?

More or less. When applicants are more than places available, some will be disappointed. Can asked to be considered for subsequent intake. Keep fingers crossed.

I apply quite early.maybe thats a plus for me.fingers crossed. biggrin.gif

it's was there in the website....

they have removed the condition....

it is part of the partnership agreement, that the respective citizens and pr of the partner countries cannot be matched to their own country....

it is best you call them directly, to clarify this....

in fact, they have removed a few information.....and added some wrong information...

in particular, for international students.....they CANNOT do housemanship in msia....
*
Say if imu students match to their own country and pay the local fees,it is a bit unfair to the other local students IMO.

anyone knows if the pms graduate route has lower requirement?
i heard it is not so popular.
after phase 1,you stay for one more year to get bachelor of medical science.and then you have 2 australian option and 1 uk option

hey guys, china now recognises imu. does that mean future grads can work there?
*
From what I heard, you have to get through some sort of test before practise in china even if you studied in china.
However,I heard the test is not hard.
It is not easy to find a job in china as a medical graduate because there are more graduates than positions.
Normally, you have to had least have a master of medicine in china(2 yrs), this is like the residency training In western countries.many ppl in china has doctor of medicine (degree you obtained after master of medicine3 yrs).if you get really high grades in university admission test, you can get into accelerated doctor of medicine program which is 8 yrs.the md in china is different from md in US.salary varies a lot in china,if you have doctor of medicine from a reputable uni or you have finished residency training in US or other developed countries.
Your salary can be rm10k-15k+ per month.if you only have mbbs or master of medicine, your starting salary can be really low, like rm1k+ per month and it is also likely that you can't find a job.

thanks alot forthe swift response that was really informative.

what about dental grads(local programme) who also possess permanent residentship of China?
*
I am from china myself.
I am not sure about dental grads.
I guess it is similar with medicine in china, you can get better job by undertaking master of dental science or doctor of dental science.and you have to get through some sort of test.
If you have experience in first world countries, you can get paid really well.
A graduate from US was offered a job with rm500k per year.
I know a medical graduated from a Russian university get paid only rm1k per month.
So if you just hold a mbbs from imu,but no master or doctor degree, and have not obtained residency or specialization training,it is not advisable to go to china to practise.you will hardly find a job.
But if you have experience or further degrees, things will be different.
Part of the reason why doctor is not paid really well in china is because there are too many medical schools.
If you hold a doctor of medicine degree from top universities like qinghua or Peking university, you will be fine.rm15k per month will not be difficult.

a 2 year 'masters' CANNOT be like residency programmes in the west.....it sounds like an academic study rather than a specialisation vocational training......
*
Not exactly the same.the system is different.i said it is like residency in the west is because after these degrees, you do not have to do any other residency.you can be a dermatologist or surgeon straight after these degrees.
you have to choose a specialization in the master and doctor degree like radiology or dermatology.you study related knowledge and rotate in the hospital in the same time.
One of my relative is doing master of medicine in gynecology and obestritic.i heard he will rotate in the hospital and get paid every month.thats why i say it is like residency.
Correct me if I am wrong because I am not studying medicine in china.

How long does it take in china to train up a doctor? Did you say 8 years? When do you specialize and how? How long does it take to be a specialist?
*
When you study master or doctor degree, you can choose a specialization.so you can become a specialist after these degrees.so it can be 7,8,10,11yrs.
I made a mistake before, master of medicine in china is 3yrs not 2 yrs.
Doctor of medicine in china is 3 yrs.
It is a bit like residency in US to me,residency training in US can be from 3 yrs to 7 yrs depend on the specialty.while master of medicine in china is 3 yrs,and you get paid every month.you also do training in hospital.essentially you are doing the specialization training except that you get a degree(certificate)
If you get really high grades in university admission test.
You can undertake accelerated mbbs/master degree which is 7 yrs.while the normal route is 5+3 yrs.
Accelerated mbbs/md degree is 8 yrs, while normally it is 5+3+3 yrs.
The accelerated mbbs/master and accelerated mbbs/md degree from about 8 universities in china are recognised by singapore.you can practise in singapore if you are from these programs.
In the recent 20 yrs,it has become increasingly popular for medical graduate from china to go to US to obtain residency training.some after mbbs, some after master, some from md.
study medicine in china is cheap, less than RM5k a year.

China is over saturated with doctors as well... nobody wants to be a doctor anymore from the recent news that i've heard...
*
Yep.thats why some doctors go to US and some change their careers.
Too many medical schools>hard to find job>low pay

What about dentists? How can there ever be enough doctors for a population of 1.3 billion?
*
Limited job position, too many medical graduates.many unis have medicine faculty.
You will be fine if you graduate from reputable uni and have at least master degree and some connections.
My relative had a mbbs degree and when he is undertaking master degree he find a medical related part time job RM 100 a day.
Not too bad given the salary condition in my opinion.
