What is term as reasonable pre-u results?
*
QUOTE(cckkpr @ Sep 15 2010, 08:43 PM)
If the pre-u results are from A levels and they meet or are above the minimum entrance requirements,  I will be surprised if a majority of them fails.
*
you cannot enter with the minimum of bbb........the minimum is abb, if there are not so many applicants........many scholars have aab or even aaa.........

yes, you will be surprised........most of the scholars have a-levels.........and while they make up about a quarter of the students, often, more than half of failures are scholars......

If you ain't an Alevels scholar, you won't even make it into the course in the first place laugh.gif so practically all are scholars right

i am not sure if your misconception is real or contrived........

but scholars here means jpa/mara scholarship students........

current a-levels results have been dumbed down (or students smarted up, depending on your point of view), and aaa means little, up to a quarter of students in any subject will get an a grade.....

which is why they came up with the a*, to sub stratify the big aaa band........

therefore, abb is quite mediocre results.........and will certainly NOT get you into any uk med school directly.......

and even if you were an a-level aaa student, you WILL fail in med school, if you don't keep up........especially in eos2 at imu, when they shrink down the class to fit the number of available places in the clinical schools........

How would you know...... Were u from imu.......?
BBB can enter la wei... Nowadays I've seen ppl with BBC in pms stream also....

And....... The days when most of the failures are jpa or mara students are long gone... Some of them are even top scorers, like in my batch... Waiting to go into dean list...... And yes, some scholars do fail...... But not to the extent that u've mentioned......

Nowadays...... Ppl who failed are mostly a bunch of arrogant craps who think they can get through without much effort....... While some of these do get through eos5...... But will they get through mbbs exit exam be it local or pms..... Only God knows....

Some of them doesn't even deserve to be in med school also..... Not even if they've got the money or the brain....... Just..... Plain nonsense.....

Maybe those with poorer grades entered during the beginning of the year intake where competition is not that keen and IMU need to reach the "breakeven" number to avoid making a loss.

With additional medical colleges on the way, with the lower fees and though "questionable" quality, further compromising of entrance requirements is expected.

it is logical to expect that the number of students with rich parents/sponsors is finite, and with the great increase in the actual number of medicine seats in ipts within the last 2-3 years, med schools will have to scrape lower at the bottom of the 'rich' barrel, and hence poorer quality students......

the irony is, there is a big barrel labeled 'poor' with many excellent students, which these ipts med schools are not bothered about........

finally, there is now STILL a problem with scholars.........which is ironic, as by definition, 'scholars' should be academically scholastic across the board........which begs the question how scholars are selected.......

Selection based on..........race............ And which state you live in................ Potential chinese and indian scholars from Johor, Pahang, Melaka, Sabah, Seremban, and Perlis..... I pity you.....

Sometimes I feel angry when the scholars scored a lower grade than me....... For some they even heck care as long as they passed.......

It really looks odd that those who aspire to fulfil their ambitions of becoming a doctor are not given a fair chance but those who are there because of the pride and status are.

I am very sure we will reach the tipping point.............the question is only when?

msia will not reach tipping point..........the whole country is a case study on mediocrity......of running everything to the lowest common denominator.....

the selection and training of doctors is just par for the course..........

remember, meritocracy is a racist idea......according to some people.....

????.....
I don't hate them....
I'm just not happy with them.....

The people i'm refering to are those who's already thinking where they should open their clinic after they graduate, the ways to suck all of the patients money and for some, they talk big like no other students can be better than them....... While they are always the one appearing on the resit list........

It's not hard to find people who's BOTH academically unworthy and unethical who passed.......not much but STILL there is........ I believe u're not one of them.......... These are the nonsense i'm refering to...... Or else i'll be refering to myself too...... =)

Yes you can........ You can be admitted first and then you'll need to go for english classes to prepare yourself for the ielts and muet....... You'll have unlimited chances to try out for these english tests, but of course la u'll need tto achieve the required band before you graduate or being transfered to partner N&D schools.
