i think all preceeding results are given to the pms, and the respective pms will decide what to use for, their ranking of students......

having said that, the results of matching suggest the official matching algorithm is not followed most of the time......so for the majority of people, it's very much a lottery.....
*
totally agree its a lottery. unless you're at the absolute top 5 of your batch, i highly doubt most of us will get our top pick yet alone first 3 picks. its really based on luck!!

Hello there. I just got my sem 2 results for my alevels. (london modular). I just wanna ask do IMU accept AS results to give complimentary entrance into med school?

And i have heard alot from my friends and siblings that IMU is not good. But it have been there for so long, and i really want to enter some well known uni. Can any IMU medical students advise me on this. Please?

Thanks. icon_question.gif

Before you go for A2, you'll have a forecast result mar. Use that one......

And yes they will grant you conditional offer........

And, if only if you meet the stated requirement on your conditional offer, you will be able to continue. Normally they will need you to get ABB for your actual results.

Are you going for PMS or Local? If PMS, why bother if IMU is good enough for you? But if you're doing the local programme, aha.... In my sole opinion.... I think it'll be a good choice for you if you can afford the fees.

BBC is only for you to apply... When you apply using your forecast result, the minimum is you need BBC. After you get your conditional offer, they will require you to get a better results than BBC in your actual results, which normally is ABB..... Why? I don't know.. Maybe they just want to make you worried that you are not going to get into IMU if you fail to get better results, and so you'll study really hard to prepare yourself for med school.... hahaha...

Anyway, I don't know how imu decides which student to take in, but I've known that some of my jpa friends who applied and came into the feb intake like me using FORECAST RESULT were on conditional offers and at that time, the cut off to stay and continue is to get ABB in ther actual results. But one of my friends who already got her actual a levels result and used her ACTUAL RESULT with BBBB came in and need not bother to meet the cut off of ÄBB. So, it's much of a ''the early bird catches the worm'' and ''who got the money i'll take that one first'' seriously...

If you think you can secure all A's in your a levels, I'm pretty sure they will take u in as most of the students here are straight A's.

As for the study part... We study most of the things by ourselves and in my opinion, i don't think it's a bad thing at all. U'll get to learn in a hard way, by your own. Lecturers are only there to introduce you into certain topics, but after that it all depends on yourself.

Like what Limeuu said before which I strongly agree is that,

a medical student normally does not have problem in understanding, just some problem with memorizing.

Cheers. =)

ABB is because those PMS are of reputable universities, surely their entry requirements are more than BBC.

why IMU accepts u?its because if u can't make it to the PMS programme, you still can stay back in the local programme in which IMU can earn more of your money.

its a marketing strategy ..........

not all la.

i am referring to some of those who are academically unworthy..

IMU local places are only about 70.. the rest are all bound for PMS...hence there is not much tight control for the PMS intake...

correct me if i am wrong. smile.gif

imu local has a licence to take in 100 per batch now, ie 200 a year.......

between 120-150 are pms students, but about 20 odd will be those on the pms-graduate entry stream, which means they stay back for another year to finish up BMedSc, and if they get 1st or 2nd upper, they are then matched to the graduate entry pms.....otherwise they join the seremban programme.....

there will be those good students who opted to go local, for usually financial reasons.....there will be those who failed to make into a pms, and will also join the local stream......

Hey want to ask any IMU dental students out there. I understand the IMU website stated that the total cost for the 5 year local dental programme is 450k. Now I would love to know what is the approximate net total for the whole course - inclusive of all the other additional fees they may charge. Would it reach 500k? Thanks in advance. Just want to do some financial planning

yes it will.

IMU increases their price by maximum 10% every 2 years.

If u consider fees that IMU might charge, then most probably it'll be 480K max. But I cant guarantee that, IMU used to say they wont increase current student's fees. After all its a private university, where money will be no.1 priority.

However, dentistry is very expensive, in terms of equipment one has to buy. A normal "starter pack" will costs you few thousands RM. So, if u add that, RM500K is very easy to reach.

may i know for MBBS course in IMU, the ielts requirement that they said( band 7 starting from this yr) right, is it for those who planned to do twinning or for both twinning n those who wants to complete the 5yrs course in malaysia???
i am a lil bit confused because in IMU website, they still state band 6.5 for those who opt to complete 5yrs course in m'sia. Or they are too lazy to change it to band 7 huh?? @@

Oh? They changed back to 6.5 again?? It was supposed to be 7, whether u're doing local or PMS.

And why do you ask this question? 7 should be easily obtained by one who intends to study medicine because,

1) Your OSCE needs you to speak good english.
2) Your EOS needs you to write understandable english.

Good luck in your IELTS. =)
