Guess Venom will appear in 3-4 scenes in glorified cgi'ed cameo.
So much for a film titled Venom I dont care abt Tom Hardy's break-up, betrayal as shown in teaser. I came for venom & prompted me to press dislike button as it didnt show jack We're not watchin an anti-hero film (dat too flat-out most popular EVER) dealing with his character backstory, inner turmoils etc Teaser looked akin to Godzilla 2014. I'm sure BO also gonna be same (flop lol) |

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Feb 10 2018, 03:35 PM) it's a teaser. The film just done filming like few months ago now it's still in post production stage QUOTE(xphossis @ Feb 10 2018, 04:29 PM) A teaser is supposed to get you excited. There should be at least one "wow" moment in a teaser that makes you want more. The teaser for Venom currently getting a lot of flak... "Venom but without Venom." ...I hope it's going to live up to the expectations. Apparently this is 'not a superhero based film' but a 'sci-fi/horror' film LOL... |

"We are Venom.." 😁 Stellar cast, hopefully the plot is not just an 'anti-hero' wrecking havoc. |

Ok. 2 sides to this trailer
One, it looks miles better than so-called "teaser". Editing, camerawork, score & Venom showcased in full-glory at tail-end after build-up throughout trailer was dope! 2nd, spoilers!!!! Why dafuq you spoil so much details? In teaser, almost non-existant details. But trailer pulak, tons of characters, backstory & expositions simply kill the joy of watchin them unveil the plot points at theater slowly.. On side note, as much as Spiderman 3 gets flak (it was highest grossing Spiderman film among Sam Raimi's trilogy mind you) the Venom design was aesthetic. Looked raw, yet refined. Venom here looked excessively organic. Its not like I hate it or anythin. Wish they spent abit more time refining the CGI Besides, Spidey better pop somewhere at Mid/End Credit scenes This post has been edited by ThalaFan: Apr 24 2018, 02:18 PM |

A pretty sloppily edited trailer. Damn kiasu to cram every info dump on it. The Venom's voice pretty hard to make out what he is saying.... |

Weird trailer. Venom looks quite the generic CGI 'monster'. Doesn't look too good to me, IMO. Should have continued the same serious tone as the previous trailer.

Crap....the last shot reminds Outrider close-up shot from Avenger's Infinity War when they invaded via Wakanda's barrier
CGI looks pretty....sloppy Sumtimes "less is more" They showed waaay tooo many Venom shots here & it takes away edgyness associated with such cool anti-hero Now this makes me miss Venom from Spiderman 3. |

I like ur username. Badass Toretto!!Regarding CGI, beat it. We have already pampered with too much CGI effects in Hollywood. What do you guys expect? Stuntman in rubber suit? I liked Venom. Hell. LOVED Spiderman 3 despite critics trashing it. I still consider Sam Raimi's trilogy to be classic superhero legacy. Lets face it. A film called Venom (title itself has great brand value, easily one of most popular antihero like ever) starring great actor Tom Hardy released a teaser trailer with......not even a glimpse of venom? Dafuq was that? It spawnd meme with Tom Hardy's masturbating reaction & gave an overall B-grade psychological mess Then, proper trailer was released & was lapped-up by almost everyone. Focused on Eddie & his life with Venom rising at final shot in his full-glory. Now this trailer was cool. Its just the unfinished CGI on Venom. Its ironic when u say stuntmen in rubber suit, cuz dats exactly what happens in frickin every goddamn Spiderman & AntMan films nah? C'mon. Monkey King 2 (Aaron Kwok) released on 2016 had fantastic CGI & its not Hollywood product. A quality is a quality output regardless if its Hollywood or Bollywood or Chinawood, Tigerwood In this case, the CGI shots of Venom looks tacky especially when he's talking to the guy at mart. Carnage scenes are cool, but when Venom's on the street choking the guy....its quite off...kinda like you can figure out difference between $120 H&M Tuxedo and $3000 Tom Ford Tux We're living post-Infinity War era now. CGI needs to be updated or else gonna get trolled |

Grrr... The grey symbiote is Riot la! Not Carnage.
Life Foundation houses the Riot squad of symbiotes. Carnage is a serial killer bonded with a red symbiote...... If you want to compare creature rubber suits use GDT or Studio ADI or Weta for benchmark. Spiderman and Antman rubber suits are superhero costumes and not in any form or shape a creature costume that Venom clearly is.... |

Guy, creature costume or superhero costume if it involves action choreography, its obvious stuntmen are at work. Your not gonna risk injuring ur multi $$$ insured lead for some stunt sequences |

QUOTE(jamesongbcmy @ Oct 3 2018, 02:52 PM) Don't follow reviews blindly. Popular box office does not equate quality filmmaking. Bay's Transformers are just garbage movies fueled by nostalgia hype and eye candy effects. There's nothing more to it. If that's your cup of tea...your choice but does not mean everyone has to drink from it.Transformers series have very bad review too, but many people still go watch the movies. I'm in no position to school you, likewise don't try to Dunning-Kruger me...lol... |

Okay, spoiler alert
Malaysia has a part in Venom.... Literally Don't think they really filmed here thou, but the Malay language in the movie was quite good, and the car plates and all that. Dunno who was the guy behind the crew who made the magic into this movie. I'm impressed But the Chinatown scene is not quite right Anyway, they movie is bad, but not catwoman/daredevil ish awful as people claimed. The interaction between Eddie Brock and Venom still enjoyable This post has been edited by hybr1d3d: Oct 3 2018, 09:35 PM |

The interaction between Eddie Brock and Venom still enjoyable |

Venom (2018)
I am at a disadvantage... I ready the comic where Venom was introduced to the Marvel universe and this is NOT it... Okay, Sony had licensed back Spider-man movie license to Marvel/Disney, I get that. After Andrew Garfield's drop out with the Head Hocho's of Sony, alot of the Venom/Sinister Six movie project got shelf, I get that. I still have to say, I don't buy the origins as portrayed by this movie. It is so... clunky. Tom Hardy is a hard actor to evaluate. Why? He is a true chameleon? I had to be reminded he is also in the DC universe, namely, Bane in The Dark Knight. So what I am trying to say id that he truly sells his roles,, that you forget he is Tom Hardy Which to me, makes Eddie Brock / Venom a hard sell. He is very flawed and therefore, not necessarily like-able... Malaysia is "mentioned/showed" in this movie and is.... not recognizable... So, what am I saying, this movie was put together with good intention and with a good cast, and have to add, I did not like the story and because Tom Hardy did a good job tithe Eddie Brock, I did not like the mavie... Am I making sense?? My Two Sen P.S. if you are a detail oriented then are two mini feature at the end credits. |

It's not good, first arc is very draggy, almost all plot at that point are laughable, which I've serious doubt on the intelligent of the screenwriter
action scenes are also so so, very forgettable, and again with Hollywood, they just love making night action scenes, where they can hide most of the flaws Eddie's relation with his ex, and Venom are laughable as well well, at least it's better than the more ridiculous The Predator some say it's F4 & cat woman level of bad? no lar, it's bad but still better than those 2 If you're expecting to see a bad ass Venom, you'll be very disappointed, what you'll get it's a "loser" Venom stay back for 2 post credit scenes, first one is shortly after the initial credit, which open a possibility for sequel's villain, and 2nd post credit scenes you'll have to wait longer, and the credit rolls are damn slow! but IMO if you've the time & patient, it's well worth it, IMO that's the best scenes among the whole movie |

abit dissapointed with this movie. it was average for me, 3/5.
and tom hardy is not suitable with all that jokes. wrong choice of actor. also why make riot travel all the way from sibu to US. that's ridiculous...some more use makcik... This post has been edited by O-haiyo: Oct 6 2018, 05:07 PM |

It was OK. Though I notice a bunch of people going "Who's DAT" when they show the mid post credits, lol. I hope Sony is commited to making a sequel to this because putting such tease at the end only cheapens the movie when you're not going to follow through with that promise.

I initially wanted to give this movie a pass because of the bad review.
After watching it I can conclude that it is a good movie, they're not comparing apple to apple when they put this film on par with Marvel quality work. It is a good movie on its own, granted there can be more gore. Not sure why they went with PG-13. But the humour and pacing was ok IMO. It was thoroughly enjoyable. |

going in with a low expectation after reading reviews, i find it not that bad. 1st 30 minutes is pretty boring, but the action scene enjoyable. 6/10. |

I disliked it. Maybe the spidey version has influenced me, i found this symbiote talks too much and I don't really need the "funny" side of it. And the casting of the movie is bad, all of them are nobodies and none of them are memorable, including the character of Annie or the boss Chalton Drake. The shot they said was malaysia was the worst, from the location or the talking, it has nothing Malaysian in it.

I too think that it's watchable, but far, far from the best. The villain was the rather typical "worshiper" type. He looked like he was going to have an orgasm when he first saw Venom, lol. Female lead was quite forgettable too. Dsiliked Venom being a funny loser type. Wish they had leaned into the body horror aspect more...
Symbiote v symbiote combat was also surprisingly uninspired. Haiz. |

QUOTE(gaeria84 @ Oct 8 2018, 01:41 PM) 'Venom's CinemaScore From Audiences RevealedBy NICOLE DRUM - October 6, 2018 Sony's Venom hit theaters this weekend, and while critics have panned the Tom Hardy-starrer it seems like fans have been far kinder. CinemaScore has revealed its audience score and it's a positive one. CinemaScore, the company that measures audience reactions to films, has awarded Venom with a solid B+ score. It's a score that is very much in line with the film's Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score, which as of this article is sitting at 89 percent. Of course, both the CinemaScore and Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score are strikingly higher than the film's critical rating -- it's currently sitting at 31 percent rotten over on Rotten Tomatoes -- so what gives? There are any number of factors that could explain the disparity between audience and critical reactions, but it appears to be another example of just how large a difference there can be between how critics and casual audiences see films. A similar situation happened earlier this year with the horror film Hereditary. In Hereditary situation, critics praised the film with it receiving an 89 percent fresh rating (as of the time of this article) but received a dismal D+ from audiences polled by CinemaScore. In the case of Venom, the situation is revered and it's something that could honestly be a plus for not just the film, but the future of the Sony Universe of Marvel Characters. The CinemaScore rating is often seen as something of a box-office bellwether with films that have positive ratings doing well at the box office while those with low CinemaScores often see a drop in their receipts following opening weekend. If Venom continues to stay strong at the box office -- and the film has already shattered preview night records -- it could end up being financially successful enough to warrant a sequel and movies beyond that, which is something that director Ruben Fleischer spoke with ComicBook.com about ahead of Venom's release, particularly in regard to things that couldn't be included in this film, like specific character appearances. "I think there's a pretty obvious one inherent to the Venom franchise that for whatever reason couldn't be included in the film," Fleischer said. "But I will say that I look forward to future movies where said character could perhaps run across Venom. Nothing would be more exciting than a face-off with Spider-Man." the source This post has been edited by boca120879: Oct 8 2018, 02:15 PM |

The irony is Venom more popular than Spidey series at the moment in comic books sales. Moving forward don't see Peter Parker making an appearance in Venom-verse unless Sony cancel their agreement with MCU. Well there's Miles Morales and Flash Thompson's Agent Venom or even the Anti-venom arc to exploit.
The origin of Venom being Spidey's black suit has been retconned to hostile invading alien species for qtuite sometime already. Just don't get why it has to be just one origin and not exploring other avenue of available materials. Think the biggest roadblock of Sony Marvel related movies still lies in Avi Arad. Too bad he is the actual rights holder of Spider-verse while Sony is the official distributor. He ran Marvel comics to the ground while secure a lucrative toys merchandise monopoly. As he sold off MCU filming rights, he kept Spiderman in his pocket. So the rest is history. As long as he has a say in the final film....guess the future not too optimistic unless someone with muscle power to sway his terrible taste in movie making. |

Plot Loophole .... featuring Malaysia
In “Venom,” Riot is an evil symbiote who goes through several bodies before landing in an old lady in Malaysia. The film then jumps six months forward and when we see Riot again he’s still in the same old lady and still in Malaysia when he then chooses to transfer into a little girl and make his way to the States. So what the hell was he doing in Malaysia for six months? Speaking with Gamespot this week, director Ruben Fleischer was asked that question specifically.... http://www.darkhorizons.com/venom-director...that-plot-hole/ |

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Dec 5 2018, 01:42 PM) concept was taken from planarianafterall its still sci-fi but i feel like the next film might portray carnage as the offspring of both riot n venom, since riot did manage to consume venom at one point. and maybe the seed was left on venom. the weapons riot uses is more of carnage weapons from comics. Venom was the brute force character while carnage was the intelligent one with ability to form weapons like how riot did in the film.. This post has been edited by area61: Dec 5 2018, 02:09 PM |

Finally got around to it. To me this not just a bad movie but trashy 90s bad. Like Suicide Squad, I don't mind some of the people in it but the garbage end result just too much to take in. I see where Tom Hardy making the Jekyll and Hyde thing with Venom, to a degree it's the only aspect I take joy in. The rest just uninspiring nonsense that didn't do too much for me. Guess sequel is right on track with how much money they already made with this.
Finger crossed they able to crack the sequel but Avi Arad fingers in it told me they won't. |

So Venom 2 practically the same as the first one. Nonsense plotlines with anti-climactic showdown in the final act Suppose those who don't mind the first movie will find something to like with this sequel. Not my cup of tea.
