Specifically we have a family background of eczema, and it has affected my brother's lips since young.

He tend to have very chapped lips all around, and he could not open his mouth for a bite at his burger, its gonna tear and bleed.

So, some skin specialist gave my brother some very strong steroid meds to control the issue. It worked, when he applies them.

As a kid who knows shit about side effects, he rely on them very much. My parents, are as clueless.

Now, according to pharmacists, the steroid has worn down his lips severely, and the chapped and dry condition is still very evident.

Every time he tries to apply lip balm or ointment, they dry quickly and the lip skin will drop like flakes.

It's been 10+ years and I guess it's time for him to seek for professional help, any suggestions?

Liver probably compromised due to excessive use of steroids. Stop the steroids and you will undergo withdrawal (condition become much worst). You need to fix the digestive system to get rid of the eczema. Nothing you apply on the skin will work.

The dermatologists at UMMC are good, can go try.

As for the lips, can try to apply organic coconut oil, or a mixture of coconut oil and grape seed oil. Can’t recommend any essential oil coz I don’t know any good grades one here in Malaysia.

Coconut oil works wonder for my eczema, psoriasis and itchiness. Grape seed oil is lighter and close to skin sebum structure so it helps to absorb faster. Hope this helps.
