The Witcher 3 - Ultra settings @ 1440p (Hairworks ON) - Performance/Frame Rate Test - [UPLOAD: 1440p 60fps] Setup: i7-4770K @ 4.3GHz | ASUS Z97 Maximus VII Hero | 16GB Crucial Sport XT @ 1866mhz | GTX 1070 G1 Gaming | 240GB SSD Crucial M500 | Corsair H105 | EVGA SuperNova 1300 G2 Be sure to check out my GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1070 & GTX 1080 Frame Rate videos (Many different games on ULTRA Settings tested @ 1080p / 1440p as well as 4K.

His resolution isn't 2560x1440. Should not use 1440p to compare. 3440x1440 is inbetween 4k and 1440p. Should use 4k for recommended performance. Always recommend more than you need.

Another issue is, bottleneck shifts to GPU at high resolution.

To run heavy AAA game like ghost recon wildlands with 1440p ultra @ 60fps, you need GTX 1080 and above.
Or lower your game settings...

I am similar situation as you. I bought new Acer X34P which my GC couldn't support!

CPU : Intel Xeon E3-1230 v3
GPU : GTX 960
Monitor : Acer X34P

You can check this website for bottleneck.
http://thebottlenecker.com/

For my CPU, max I can upgrade is GTX 1070, more than that I will face bottleneck issue on GC. Another problem is the GC price is crazy expensive now...

Instead spend thousands to upgrade to better CPU, DDR4 ram, recommended GC for 3440x1440 like GTX 1080 Ti.... basically whole PC, I am only aiming GTX 1070.

If you wanna sell your GTX 1070, do let me know ya.

i hope youre kidding. dont know why would anyone buy expensive monitor without equal priced gpu. one of the reasons why i never upgraded the monitor to such an expensive one is because i know i could never afford the gpu it needs.

its like getting a cheap psu with expensive rig.

as for the op, it depends on how high the settings you wanna push. seems like the msrp of gpu right now has permantly increased. you could wait for the price to reach a stable high, but it will likely never come down.

despite what some ppl said, i always use video reviews as a rough estimate.

will my i5-4690 bottleneck gtx1080ti?

because online tech reviewer mention that old core i5 not enough for ultrawide gaming

It should be ok since higher resolutions bottlenecks GPU. FF XV requirement is brutal though.

You can test how good is your PC with the benchmark:

with current graphic card prices it might be hard to find a 1080ti for 4k anyway, not to mention even with such card it's likely you'll still experience some fps dips in certain scenes in AAA games with maxed out settings.

I'd keep using the 1070 till the new card comes. maybe upgrade to a ryzen even and keep collecting $$ while waiting for the new card

you could consider that option as well since it's 50% more cores and has HT. I'd get a 16GB RAM though, 8GB is bare minimum these days.

LOL.

Seriously man, I wonder why people here recommending you to go GTX 1080 Ti.

The i5-4690 already bottlenecks the GTX 1070.

I've personally owned an i5-4670K and paired with GTX 1070 - it bottlenecks, slight but there is a bottleneck. I had to overclock my i5-4670K to 4Ghz+ just to eliminate the bottleneck.

However I was using Full HD setting, you're running at a far higher resolution than that and the bottleneck gap would be reduced, even so it sure will be there.

cpu around 90-100%

gpu around 70-100%
Some games like those you mentioned are CPU intensive.

Ideally your end-goal should be both processor and GPU upgrade.

If you upgrade processor, what you get is overall faster loading time and you eliminate the problem of lacking CPU processing power.

It does help maintain your framerates as faster processing would result in less framerate dips.

You can upgrade the graphics card later, after all price of the cards are crazy these days.

Looks like you can only play Standard quality with GTX 1070.

3000 to 4499 - Standard - A standard level of performance can be expected.

http://benchmark.finalfantasyxv.com/na/

Yeah, upgrade CPU, mobo and RAM first. GPU prices are ridiculous now.
