QUOTE(westlife @ Jun 18 2018, 10:33 AM) regretted to use the HEIF/HEVC high-efficiency formats. very difficult to transfer the photos/videos out due to huge size. by rite, when copying those formats to a machines that are not compatible with the format such as older version of macOS and Windows, it should do the auto conversion while copying, but always timeout or error while copying huge files. The HEIC/HEIF format results in smaller files for same quality, no? What computer are you having the timeout issues with?No problem for my Win10 PC. Windows 10 support coming soon How to open HEIC files in Windows |

Update - Anyway, tried copying a file (IMG_XXXX.HEIC 1.61MB) on the phone to the PC using USB cable and the file became IMG_XXXX.JPG 3.42MB on my computer. Auto conversion by latest iTunes, perhaps?

QUOTE(westlife @ Jun 18 2018, 11:33 AM) yes, if u try to copy high efficiency format on a system such as Windows 10 that does not support it natively, it will do a conversion automatically. I did some reading, the auto-conversion setting is on the phone.small files generally no issues, it is big files that will cause problems. my 4k videos recorded using iphone X can be few GBs in size. |

QUOTE(terrancehah @ Jun 18 2018, 07:13 PM) iphone x since day one of launch, battery health already at 91%... ipx user since launch day here. I leave my phone on the wired charger (aukey 10 port base, 2.4A ports) overnight every day too.Guess overnight charging really hurts... And I often charge wirelessly at the office plus at home too. Very rarely use my aukey power bank though these days. Battery health went down to 99% on ios 11.3.1. It’s back to 100% on ios 11.4. This post has been edited by kmrdeva: Jun 18 2018, 07:33 PM |

QUOTE(westlife @ Jun 19 2018, 06:14 PM) It is exactly becos Apple USB speed is only 2.0 plus need to convert on the fly thus using high-effiency may not be ideal especially for ppl like me who has the 256gb version. One opt for 256gb version obviously will go for the best quality photos and video taking. thus big file size is not something an option. please see the size of the video even for a 1 min 4K video. I dun see a reason why one should purposely take low quality video to avoid big size video file even it is known to have the problematic transfer issue. It defeats the purpose of owning a AAA model phone while one did not take advantage of the maximum capability of the phone especially one owns the highest capacity model. For your use case, the compatible format setting works best? I was quite surprised by the YouTube video which showed that the new HEIC/HEIF format had worse quality than JPEG/MP4. Most importantly the transfer of huge video on iOS and Android devices are totally not Apple to apple comparions. Most android devices have the 5-mins rule that the device itself can only record 5 mins 4K videos which the file size is certainly limited comparing to iPhone which has no restriction on the recording size. So for iOS device, per video size can be as big as the maximum remaining storage size of the phone itself. I don’t transfer files from phone to PC but am concerned about image and video quality. Maybe will go back to the compatible format too. |

QUOTE(attw @ Jun 21 2018, 07:58 PM) It's a 1-2 second delay between hitting the Send key and the first tick. Could be a bit longer sometimes too. Ah I see. I definitely don’t see this happening on both my ip8 and ipx. Only see maybe a split second delay between the single tick and the double tick which I consider normal. In retrospect it's not a big issue, but it's just annoying, ha ha... Just thinking out of the box, are you using a third party keyboard by any chance? |
