Would moving around too much seize learning opportunities?  Perhaps I'm naive in my ways but what about loyalty?
*
You could move across industries to gain a better understanding of them, adds value too. No one wants a person who has 20 yrs exp in one comp, but te type of exp is 1 year repeated 20 times...

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Sep 13 2007, 01:17 PM)
Earning 5k is 'quite' easy now. I am trying to move up to 10k with side biz and stock investment. Even an extra 300 ringgit per month would help.
*
Good for you. Not everyone has the opportunity. But yes, side biz and investments I feel are necessary to supplement us, a single income from day job no longer suffice in today's economy...

I have seen far too many ppl short changing themselves in their work and life. Why settle for something less when u know you are worth more?
*
Last time I also fell into comfort zone, and really short-changed myself. Finally woke up and decided to do something about it. Expensive lesson but never too late to realize...

QUOTE(achcmy @ Sep 13 2007, 03:45 PM)
You just gotta fight and fight for the things rightfully yours... It's simple...

I encourage young ppl who have so-called made it to continue to fight further because in our world, we are far from making it.
*
@achmy
Good posts there. Appreciate it.

@yewkhuay
Loyalty gets you a pat in the back by your superior who is in no position to give you an increment. But I don't mean to say that loyalty is no good, I'm saying that you need to know when/whom to be loyal.

Yes to all forumers, we have to fight. Safeguard your future as much as possible. Know your market worth. Test it.

"They are always on the move and loyalty is out," said Banks, who heads a human resource (HR) outsourcing company based in Australia.
*
Is partially true here, do take note that job/labour market here and US/AUS is not very similar. Here many ppl still like to go into comfort zone. So I believe here loyalty<->comfort is almost the same, in many ppl perception. Loyalty is usually towards Boss and teammates ("i enjoy working with my boss/team") more than ("i enjoy working in this industry/comp"), I feel.

what you see/hear/feel so far about MLM is crap... but this does not represent that ALL MLM are crap..
Ok Ok this is not MLM debate thread, guys please... response.redirect "Kopitiam / RWS" ...

or those in comfortable zone with 1 year experience repeated 30 times.

(Love the phrase above) I feel that one should avoid this type of job roles, it is really a waste to let your (working) life go by rinsing and repeating. Of course I speak from IT perspective, accountants may disagree ...

Would the company I do my intership with consider hiring me without a completed degree?
*
U just have to look around, companies DO offer internship for non complete degree holder, thats the idea of internship. Don't expect 2K a month though. Most internships pay like 600++ depending on place. Hunt around in industrial areas and MNC.

bersyukurlah. i know tons of IT grads at 31 with half ur salary, and even more non-grads who earn ~2k a mth.

again, if u have no time for ppl, its hard to expect ppl to have time for u.

and pls take the t-sys job, its a good opportunity. probably work wif shell.

Just be enough to live and happy...
*
i think u r posting in wrong thread, here is ppl who want to earn more. ur words are just negativity and lack of ambition (MLMers love to use it on those who refuse to join their collective).

but i agree wif u , we oni live once, and i'd love to cradle a laughing child, brush a rose against my cheek and breath in the fresh mountain air instead of wasting my life away at office and driving my expensive car... but we all chose this path.

i go through a lot of resumes in my line.

For IT jobs, 5k jobs by 28 is more likely in Vendor Side Jobs.
Also on the level of work, MIS/support is less, Specialist like programmer/infra implementation/L2/L3 would have more chance

Don't be fooled by people posting here saying it's very EASY to get RM5k at 28. 99.9% of people who earns RM800 a month is not going to have free time to post in this forum.
*
ppl here WANT to hear that 5K is common.
"ppl around me say they earn more than that so i should also earn more than that"

MLMers will laugh at this thread becos 5K is a measly sum, it shows a definate lack of initiative to earn money.

QUOTE(TitaniumZ @ Dec 30 2009, 04:33 PM)
Yup yup, RM5k is less than USD1.5k but what to do? Majority of Malaysian earn very low gross annual income, and foreigners are amazed at Malaysian taking a 30-year housing loan, or bearing a 9-year hp just to buy some low end Japanese made car.
*
the important thing is to be realistic both in income and expenses
try not to overcommit, or lead a lifestyle u cannot afford.

at the same time keep working towards ur vision.

u work wif wat u have. dun always spend time envy wat others have.
spend that time doing wat u need to do

my advise is to strive for more with realistic expectations. u r merely jumping to an extreme and making a fool of urself.

This is another person who dun get my point.
My main point is, always trying harder to b better is a human nature and this is the nature that keep our world a better place to live. Imagine the smart ppl who work very hard to make TV for u, car for u, now they r even solving the climate issue by inventing the solar panel and wind turbine, yes, they make a lot of money, but they also provide u a better place to live. Imagine if they r not greedy, then everyone will just eat economy rice and no one will make nice steak for u.
Those examples that I used are exagerating to make my statment and this forum more interesting. I thought most r adult here with high IQ, and able to tell that and treat that as joke. How come there is a little guy here who really think everyone can get a ferrari?
*
oh so u were joking?

here, have a lol.

My case is one-of-a-kind. I studied in continental Europe all the way to the Masters, speak the language of that country and English with startling fluency (when I speak, people's jaws drop), and am talented at formal conversations. I interviewed in that country for my present position in Malaysia (they were originally looking for an expat). They asked me how much I wanted. I named a sum that appeared high even to me. They said OK and gave me a certain percentage more on top of that.

But it's difficult to change jobs because I'm overpaid for my age. I want to work in a place with lots pretty girls and a relaxed culture.
