QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 15 2007, 01:18 AM)
A croupier is more towards a person who deals cards.

A card counter is a person whose maths and statistics are so good that they can beat the casino and win money!

it is a valid occupation, so to speak?
i once took a class where the professor loves to talk about casino and gambling..
(you got it right, it's a statistics class)..
but at the end of the semester.. he laid down a tricky caveat.. "don't bet your pants on it"

i guess that word of advice kept us all straight.. laugh.gif

i did mentioned about the lack of loyalty in the workplace several posts back.. some of the forumers here didn't see it (they thought that loyalty is still very much alive..)

well.. read this:
http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...66&sec=business

just notice the quote below (extracted from the site above)
The US Department of Labor, in an employee tenure survey, noted that one-third were in jobs for less than two years, while two-thirds stayed no longer than five years.

"They are always on the move and loyalty is out," said Banks, who heads a human resource (HR) outsourcing company based in Australia.

MLM and direct selling are all crap. Most of my friends did not listen to my advice and end up regretting later.
*
that's quite a sweeping remarks you've made there, kiddo..
placing a broad umbrella blanket on the entire industry without understanding it is like a blind fool feeling up an elephant and describing it as a banana tree, for instance..

what you see/hear/feel so far about MLM is crap... but this does not represent that ALL MLM are crap..
there're certain business framework you need to understand before you start crapping the entire industry out..

(Love the phrase above) I feel that one should avoid this type of job roles, it is really a waste to let your (working) life go by rinsing and repeating. Of course I speak from IT perspective, accountants may disagree ...

(i love the phrase above too).. reminds me of a whacko washing machine.. aka "oops, i did it again" britney stylo..

Don't feel offended just because you're part of the MLM community smile.gif The way you reply doesn't show you're any better than the rest. I couldn't care less and we'll see who is the blind fool at the end of the day. Nevertheless, I wish you all the best in your MLM job.

the best SOB reply i've heard so far.. says who i'm part of the MLM community?!?
i represent a neutral party who once blindy rejected anything to do with MLM..

but today, i'm studying their framework, operations, profitability and business acuments..
please la.. don't be a blind dumbfark who fire-first-then-ask-question later..

people who're earning $22k per month.. it's amazing the amount of income tax you pay as well.. $6k+/mth..

that leaves your take home pay being reduced to about ~$15k/mth.. still a hansome chunk of income.. but it's definitely not $22k anymore.

not necessarily liddat bro.. there're oso those that earns alot but spends proportionally much less..

if you succumb to comparisons (peer pressure, competing with the joneses, kiasu, "self gratified first and now" mentality, etc.) no amount of income can satisfy that..

there's something called 'residue income'.. i only spend on that 'residue income' and take interest at growing this 'residue income'.. this is some sort of 'living within my means' concept.. my residue income is not small btw.. i only utilize a fraction (~10%) of it.. and i don't feel deprived at all..

QUOTE(naleh33 @ Dec 29 2009, 01:01 AM)
The more you earn, the more you spent. Bottom line is that how much do we save at the end of the day. You can earn 22K a mth but you tend to spend more at the same time.

Also please bear in mind, big money also comes with bigger responsibility. Do you have the capability to hold the responsibility? No company will pay you extra if you are not valuable to the company.

Added on January 2, 2010, 2:33 amthe thing that i observed about mlm-ers is that.. it's not a long term solution.

try to get a good front-seat position as soon as possible and grow recruits as quickly as possible.. while the music still plays and things are still good, they spend on luxuries as some sort of a lure to recruits more..

only those impressionable and vulnerable people fall into this lure.. their merc/bmw/banglo/banglas are their necessary cost of business (would you be interested to goto rah-rah session.. if the successful mlm'ers live a plain vanilla life even if their wealthy?)

it's just like any salesman.. they have to spend inorder to look rich/good/successful.. if one looks beyond those imagery/symbolism.. it's just another race in the pyramid game.

QUOTE(vey99 @ Dec 30 2009, 03:29 PM)
MLMers will laugh at this thread becos 5K is a measly sum, it shows a definate lack of initiative to earn money.

Added on January 2, 2010, 2:45 ami rike to take a different view here.. on the higher echelons of the maslow hierarchy of needs, are not any of the items you've depicted there..

in other words.. you're just being fooled by a cunning scheme called 'marketing'.. that somehow created a false need in people that stuff like iphone, felalei, sharkfin, lv, d'sara heights, honeyken, sifut chow, etc.. is a necessity albeit never fully satisfied path to an evolved and luxury living?!? who defines that again?

the very basis of our current economy is built on a very unsustainable platform.. consumption, scarcity and profit are all expected to go one-way.. north, without giving any consideration of the amount of resources and the consequences towards this unsustainable endevours..

so, jumping off the economy train and get left behind isn't all that bad.. when you know that the train is heading off a cliff around a bend!!

QUOTE(wu_shi_han @ Dec 30 2009, 04:54 PM)
Human are born to enjoy luxury life, if we just wan to have food and simple shelter then what is the different between us and donkey????!!!!!!!!!
we created Iphone (just had one, very cool), ferrari, sharkfin, LV, damansara height, heneiken, chrissie chow (wonder what's the price tag) and etc etc because they are meant for us to enjoy!!!!!!!!! we shouldn't settle with economy rice everyday n watch the astro pathetic channels!!!!!!!!!
this world is beautiful and improve day by day because we human are greedy and we always want to b better!!!! Though the price to pay is high but it is worth it for most ppl. This train of economy will not stop, only passenger who can not take it will jump from the train n left behind....
