QUOTE(onelove89 @ Nov 12 2008, 05:53 PM) Experienced geologists are very much in demand by the oil companies. Once you have relevant experience you can get expat packages to practically any location they're looking for oil. Think US$250k per year or higher salaries for a pretty relaxed desk job |

That sentence alone is full of oxymorons. |

Yeap..nowadays earning RM 5k is nothing already lah.You should aim for RM 10k.
Altho I am not there yet as I just started working at age 22 but I am confident I can hit my target. At first u will think RM 5k is alot but after all the deductions and all,its peanuts for the amount of work we will be contributing to the company. The way up is of course the best education u can get and hard work.Dont be lazy |

5K before 28y.o? I think there are soooo many people earning more than 5k even at age 25-26.
I know a friend earning 15k+ average at 25y.o. But they work like hell, 7 days a week including public holidays. What they do is land investment for their clients. I know a gal in Forex line, can earn up to 400k per annum, and she's only 28y.o. There are 2 common things with these kinda job : 1. Uncapped income; depends on how you work. 2. No basic pay or low basic pay; In one month you can earn 20k, but for the rest of the 4 months you makan angin. These kinda jobs are usually very financial or market driven. If money is your only objective, then go for these kinda career. But be warned that it is very stressful and extremely fast paced. That Forex gal looks like she's 35+y.o. smokes and drinks like hell. If career advancement is your objective, then work your way up the corporate ladder lor. The earlier you start the better. Oh for myself.....I'm a Channel Sales Manager, basic+allowance+average commission comes up to only 5k+ - 6k+ and I'm already 27. I find this amount not sufficient in today's market and society. At least aim for 100k per annum. |

Reality is that the vast majority do not earn anywhere near that figure, more so for the age range of 25-26 based on statistical reports released by the government on income tax pay brackets. Moreover, most of these high earners at a younger age are typically working abroad and not in Malaysia. |

QUOTE(ILoveVivianShing @ Nov 28 2008, 06:06 PM) well its impossible because he has a bitoechnology degree.. unless he work in singapore la... and like i say unless he do some illegal stuff..for a normal person the chance is <5%... I think most of the people here are a little unrealistic....most will say my fren earn this and that and living cost not very expensive cannot do anything with 5k... the living cost is going up but the salary is not so they dont move together..and your fren here and there..how many of that fren do u have in malaysia? it may be only 1 or 2 person... |
