I hope this right place to ask but I can't set up my Xbox to connect to the network or the internet (Streamyx). I'm not a total noob at this so it's quite puzzling. I've tried a few times over the past few years but each time just gave up.

Can someone help me out with exact settings?

Xbox360 elite (not cracked, modded)

+ direct connect with cable to

D-link router/modem (connected to laptop via cable & wirelessly connected to 2 netbooks, wii, psp etc)
- model DSL-2640T (have to confirm)

I've tried all the tips from these forums and Google. Set Static IP/Dynamic IP. Set DNS, gateway. Set All auto. Nothing works.

And why can't it even get into the network? If I attach the cable to a previously unattached netbook is no problems.

Ahem,
You are using modem and linksys switch?
No wonder, correct me if im wrong, but by saying switch,
I think this is what happen;

1.You connect both your computer and xbox to the same linksys switch.
2.Linksys switch work as a switch to allow only one connection at time.
3.So, if you are using internet on the PC, the switch disable connection for 360 and vice versa.

I got this problem today - finally can connect to xbox live (really was apartment issue so once move terus can).
using d-link dsl-2640t (http://www.dlink.com.my/products/?idproduct=165) a router/modem

i try setting static ip cannot.
it connects flawlessly via auto

whichever connects first has priority

if xbox first, then laptop (and anything else) is shutdown
if laptop connect, only xbox cannot while other wireless device is ok (htc, wii, 2 netbooks)

settings issue? is very weird and hope to solve soon tq

Try to get router port forwarding settings on google for your router model. If you did it correctly, it'll run thereafter without any flaw.

For the sake of your pleasure on live, I've found such site for your reference. Click here!

Good luck & welcome to the club.

Thanks navigator. It works but sometimes only. Sometimes it won't allow the other connection to connect at the same time. It's odd but at least Xbox Live works. Got all Fallout3 DLCs (50% off this week) .. whee!
