Hi everyone, i have been facing throttling from both isp giants and is getting tired of battling them. Over the years i have been looking for solutions and finally found one. It has not been cheap because it is a paid service.

Long story short, i have been using a vpn service for years and feel like i am not the only one. I am sure some of you out there spent at least rm30-80 just to bypass throttling from your "beloved" isp.

This add up too much of my monthly bill (isp + vpn service). Thats arnd rm3xx a month. I am sure some of you did this and found it to be unfair somehow.

So a few months ago i found out a friend of mine do have a dedicated vpn server based on a clean non throttled isp. This enabled us to tunnel our traffic from any internet connections through the vpn and eliminate throttle entirely, especially for netflix, youtube, amazon prime and much much more.

I am able to saturate my 100mbps unifi through streaming youtube 4k, netflix 4k, amazon 4k and other video streaming services. No more throttling in the middle of the afternoon, or late evening and dinner time or any other time in fact. 24hr a day, 7 days a week fast internet stream download and etc.

If anyone here is interested to be part of this small plan of mine, i am planning to deploy my own vpn server that can serve a small number of users. With enough people interested, i will try a beta run for the next 2 weeks or so, depending how much people are interested.

I will make it very clear, this wont be a free thing, but it wont be expensive at all. It will only serve a small number of users (up to 20). If there are at least 10 people are interested, this will be deployed as soon as i can.

What do you guys think about this? Will this be something you guys be interested in? Im thinking Rm15 a month per user is not bad. If u guys have questions, post it here, im happy to answer it. Im just an average joe trying to make a difference. Have a nice day. Cheers.

Hi soon wai. Glad to see u here so fast. =) It will be openvpn(udp), l2tp with ipsec and if u want pptp too i will add it as well. Oh country will be here in Malaysia only bro. It meant to bypass throttling only my good bro, not meant to unlock region based content if that what you are asking. Timeline will be updated as soon as i get more people agree to join.

Hello, I would be interested, but I am not techie enough to understand how it works. Do I need to apply that VPN on every devices that I own, or it's a one time setup on the router itself?

I am having issues in video streaming on my tv box, especially on Terrarium TV. Unsure if this will help, but would be awesome if there's a trial period. smile.gif

Your vpn service must be capable to handle 10 devices/routers at the same time.

Try to setup vpn urself at vps(digital ocean/ Vultr/ Linode) which is very cheap.

If someone want to have dedicated vpn without sharing with anyone else, can pm me.

U can do single ones or simply apply to yr cool router too. As long as your router can support vpn connection it wont be a problem.

Possible to use US region vps and setup vpn? Then do policy based route so only streaming video through that vpn. Other browsing activity will be direct.

But if you want to use malaysia IP for all activity, then ur setup is worth it. Or you can try this https://www.vpsmalaysia.com.my/linux-vps-hosting/. Bandwidth is 100Mbps. Not sure how you set up vpn, but generally Vps setup must be cheaper compare to owning fix ip.

Well, Just my 2 cents , hope can help.

Why not use Getflix for your US related video streaming services? Its a paid service. Just change DNS on your devices to access US Video Streaming Services. Comes with VPN as well.

i never experience throttling on tm or time. At first i had slow speeds but using mikrotik with a complicated QoS meant i never had video buffering anymore, no slow downloads and so on. I dont think its the ISP thats throttling you rather the lack of config that causes slow speeds.

I use a simple ques with custom que types. For each WAN, have a main que with the type of sfq with the max speed of your practical WAN speeds, have a seperate que type for upload and download for the main que.
next just branch each to a new que, use either sfq or fifo and differentiate the traffic via priority, limitting the max bandwidth of each. Make sure to put internet services like DNS, NTP, ICMP and such as the highest priority, followed by gaming. I usually put downloads and torrents last. Give higher priority and latency sensitive traffic the SFQ type while non latency sensitive like torrents and downloads the pfifo que type, same with web browsing (though video streaming should use sfq and not a buffered que to avoid video buffering).

If its too complicated for you, wait a few months as i build my mikrotik tutorial from start till advanced configs for both homes and business usages.
