is the logo really have a low-resolution or people were altering it to look worse than it really is? apart from that, there are some design elements to be appreciated in the logo. in the end of the day, it's free and didn't require thousands of ringgit of taxpayers money so it's not a big deal.

My opinion la... why three animals got wear sun glasses ? It mean Malaysia very hot ? Not sure what's the animal for blue color shirt... but still will support Malaysia

It is never free though...the minister said it came from in-house designer. Think about how much the inflated salary they are taking every month and design such a mediocre logo, and probably a few things here and there. Definitely a lot more expensive than it would be if it is an open tender/competition.

Also when you say free, it still means you think price > value. For something like a logo which is an important component in promoting tourism, and henceforth bringing in money to the economy, the value being generated is much more important than the price tag. That being said, as a person, how the design of a campaign logo has very little influence over my decision to visit the country or not, because this is not a business branding. When you google a country/city and the first thing showed up are the actual images of interest to tourists. But when you google the name of the business, I would say the branding would influence whether I would visit or use their services. Same thing, if you put little effort in making your branding, I think you are putting lesser effort in your product/business.

Its garbage. Nothing matches up. Trying to incorporate landmark, choosing orangutans with sunglasses, just great!
Not to mention what is the up with the color theme? The tagline: Travel, Enjoy, Respect???
As an illustrator, this is one of the most horrible examples of any logo I have seen in a long time.

The logo is no doubt ugly, although maybe it's intentional to make it viral? Some people believe any publicity is good publicity.

Tourism Ministry to run competition for VMY2020 logo

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — Tourism Minister Mohamaddin Ketapi said his ministry will hold another competition for submissions to improve the existing logo for Visit Malaysia Year 2020.

He said the competition was only to amend the logo and not to replace it.

“Maybe one or two we will take and add up the rest (to the final design), we won’t get rid of the entire logo,” he said.

Malaysians previously criticised the logo as amateurish, among others, when it was unveiled last August.

“It’s just a small thing actually,” he said when asked about efforts to update the VMY2020 logos that were already published in foreign countries.

The ministry previously said it would launch a competition for a replacement logo.

The logo is already beyond salvage. It would be hard to try to improve it.

Logo has too many elements. Should be simpler and easier to see since it will likely be shrunk down in websites and merch.
