Hi all,

Im currently renovating my place.I need sifu here to enlighten me hahaha.

1st plan :

ROUTER --> Wall Socket --> wall Socket --> Computer

2nd plan

Router -->Wall socket --> computer

1st option house will look neater cuse it will be hidden behind the walls.But i am not sure if the wall outlet data i bought its suitable for this application..
2nd option since there is no plate covering the cable hole it will look abit awkard.

My Wall plat E3031RJ5E_GS Outlet Data Cat5E Grey Silver Neo C-Metro.
Since my office has CAT6 Cable lying around.I connect to 5E no problem right guys?

which option is better guys

If your router is in a visible location then yea option 2. Doesn't cost that much more anyway

You will need to put wall sockets on walls You don't know that will happened in future. You router will no longer at that position and so do other devices.

Wire hanging like that from the wall, what happened if the wire broken. So, it get shorter and shorter until disappear laugh.gif

I bought a subsale condo mid last year.

Since I had to gut the entire place to replace all the floor tiles, I took the opportunity to get the contractor to hack the concrete floor to install new rust-proof water pipes and a PVC conduit to run ethernet cables and home theater speaker wires under the floor. I got two Cat5e cables running under the floor across the condo from the PC room to the living room hooked up to faceplates in the wall on both ends. So I just connect my Unifi router to the Cat5e jacks in the faceplate in the PC room, and my HyppTV box and AV receiver (for internet radio) to the jacks in the living room. My PC and printer are hooked up to the router directly in the PC room.

Super tidy. It was the best decision ever.

Another way to run cables is via the ceiling, especially if you have a plaster ceiling.
