I'm currently using an iphone 5s. It has been serving me for 4 years already. I guess its time to upgrade because the phone is really slow. Iphones nowadays are really too expensive already. I'm looking for a phone with at least 5.5 inches screen. The 2 choices I'm looking at are the iphone 7 plus and the xiaomi redmi 5 plus. Their prices are really far. Can /k advise?

Things i look at:
1. Good battery life
2. Acceptable camera
3. At least 5.5 inch screen

Reminder: This isn' t /k.

BTW, I suggest you take Mi A1 instead of Redmi 5 plus. Stock vanilla android experience is good for iPhone ex-user.

Oops... Sorry. I'm kinda new around here 😅. But the redmi 5 plus is newer than the Mi A1. And xiaomi claims that the 5 plus has a better camera. Is that actually true?

That, I'm not sure. I think it's just average, like the rest.

Emm, perhaps you can pay a visit the respective Redmi 5 plus thread in android section and do the judgement yourself ?

If you're used to the Apple ecosystem, i'll suggest you to stick with iOS.

But if you love to take video, better stick with iPhone or get a high-end flagship android smartphones. Please don't expect much from non-flagship smartphones although it is in high-end category.

The only thing I'm tied down with Apple is Apple Music. But android has the app as well.

I take mostly photos. I am happy with the 5s camera. Quality really good. I guess the xiaomi's camera would be uncomparable.

Able to afford up to the iPhone 7 plus price. However, I'm thinking of xiaomi redmi 5 plus because a lot of good reviews.

no matter how positive its still a Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 and based limited budget. Since you can afford iphone 7 plus why dont you consider Samsung FE , Samsung S8, Samsung Note 8, Hua wei mate 10, hua wei mate 10 pro

Alot of good reviews based on their budget RM500 to RM800 not budget RM3000 then consider a RM600 phone.

Based on your budget.

Lower-mid range: Go for Xiaomi mi6 :RM1600
Mid range:Go for Huawei Mate 10 RM 2400 (don't buy pro version): you can get for free at the moment with Celcom RM188plan/month( 2 years contract)
High end: iPhone 10 RM 5500(256gb)

Huawei Mate 10 is a really fast phone and promises you the best camera feature among the 3 phones(almost reaching DSLR camera quality), 16:9 screen size, dual sim, microSD card slot with high screen density : best value for money. Huawei phones do not function like Samsung phones (loaded with useless power consuming apps which slows down your phone) and you could expect performance like stock Android phones.

not really. Hua wei gives more about basic function while samsung give more trendy look

If compare camera i have mate 10 pro and note 8. i prefer my note 8 camera but both no where near DSLR .

Samsung give you more trendy features like curve edge, spen , iris scanner, ip68, Samsung pay (i already hit 7k waiting to redeem free samsung s3 gear frontier worth RM1399 for free) , wireless charging, great UI with samsung experience. Spen is the pride of samsung no other brand have able to do it as good as samsung.

Hua wei function are like more reasonable price , leica branded but no where near leica quality camera, alot gesture control like record screen, screenshot and other function, better battery life, super fast charging, boring UI

Yes spen really king. I get addicted using it. Scribble small notes take seconds only or you want write essay convert into computer texts that easily can be transfer to other document easily.

Spen can do alot other things like crop object out of image, sketches and many more.
