hi there.,i want to ask.,i want to change new psu.,can anyone recommend which 1 is better gigabyte odin pro 550w or cooler master real power 520w modular psu..tq
*
i'd go for Gigabyte Odin Pro 550W...

why? because it has larger current on +5V and +3.3V, even though slightly lower than CM's +12V rail @18A, but still, it has 4 rails unlike CM's; only 3 rails

Gigabyte Odin Pro 550W - http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/PowerS...IN%20Pro%20550W

CoolerMaster Real Power 520W - http://www.coolermaster.com/products/produ...=detail&id=2685

i'm just doing simple web-research, not base on experience with it... smile.gif, actually my brother using Gigabyte Odin Pro 550W, and it's a good PSU with acceptable noise, wait... noise? yeap... i found that it's louder than my ST56ZF even though my ST56ZF using 80mm fan doh.gif, about that CoolerMaster... no idea...

for +12V Rail, it is highly recommended that you get at least 30A either single or combine +12V Rail icon_idea.gif

doh.gif pardon me for mis-understood that...

so, it's 18A + 18A = ±36A icon_idea.gif, do keep in mind, in multirail configuration PSU, the total combined rail is exactly as after we totaled up... it's less than that..., not much though... 2A ~ 4A only icon_idea.gif

For multirailed PSU, keep in mind that most of the PSUs below 600W are actually single rail PSUs with 30A+, but the wires are labeled as seperate rail to keep with the stupid ATX 2.xx specification.

Simple reason is this-a true multi rail PSU usually uses seperate transformers for each rail (which are pretty big & expensive). Even if the manufacturer just shares one transformer (still ok, but less EMI protection), it can still really be considered multi rail if there are seperate voltage regulators for each rail. But the sad truth is that is simply a LOT cheaper to use fewer but better components to design a single rail PSU capable of outputing FAT amps, and just relabel wires to say its multi rail.

Generally speaking, its not likely that you'll find a true dual rail PSU for less than RM300, simply because it doesn't make economic sense for the manufacturer (its like selling Core 2 Extremes at less than RM600).

Hi bro.The place u mentioned is too high for me. smile.gif
Well some of my question are answered here.Thank you for the help.

My thing is,i don't really intend to get those expensive PSU like zeus, gamextream,pc & c,etc where else an acbel or enermax liberty 500W will do to work my pc runs smoothly. smile.gif
Thats why i really want to know how far can a mid-range power supply go.
