ST75ZF is ok and the price now is RM490. However this is not a modular PSU
At the same time, I'd prefer the Decathlon series or Corsair's HX620. |

I think in the days to come, most of us would be using 1kW PSU's considering the fact that newer graphics card eats up more power

QUOTE(salimbest83 @ May 6 2008, 10:59 AM) THEN.. im nearly 100% sure that im not gonna own one of those 1K PSU if their price not going down..and that oso nearly impossible to make it lower than Rm400.. The price will eventually drop im done.. In fact the 800W Gigabyte Odin is a good buy |

It's true that energy efficient is the focus these days. I'm not sure about the 3870X2 (not being an ATI fan for a while) but I know the 9800GX2/GTX takes more power than it's predecessor so we can only guess how it would be moving forward. If we want a 9800GX2 SLI, we'll definitely need a powerful PSU.

As long as you get a PSU made by one of the reputable brands then it would be alright

Most importantly, get something adequate for what we have in the rig. If it's a normal setup, those Acbel 390W is alright. Don't forget there are many people using Icute and still live with it for years

First of all, look at what you intend to run on that rig. A normal setup with 8800GT would still survive with a 500W-550W PSU. Secondly, get a reputable branded PSU. Don't get something you've never heard and read some reviews before you buy.

QUOTE(lohwenli @ May 16 2008, 08:51 AM) Even a proper 300W PSU is enough. I have set up a system for my friend, E2140 (overclocked to 3.0Ghz), 9600GT and a Delta 300W PSU. Everything is ok, checked voltages with digital multimeter. Voltages are hardly perfect, but still well within safe limits. Honestly, from what I know, the rig probably takes up no more than 220W. I normally don't go to the details of the ripple effects, current, etc. To me, these are just extras that are ignorable but what's important is a PSU which is adequate enough to power the rig (with some extra room for upgrade later) from a reputable make. However, I do agree that for the setup you've mentioned, 300W is enough. |

If you read the reviews (JonnyGuru), the Mushkin isn't doing that well and Corsair still does it better.

QUOTE(lohwenli @ May 22 2008, 04:33 PM) That's an understatement. The ripple voltage on the Mushkin was so bad, to date I've never seen any PSU even HALF that bad (including the cap ayam PSUs which jonnyguru reviewed (and killed, I might add)). It's still usable but for people that would measure everything and read reviews, they would remove this PSU from their buy list |

You're comparing a 600W and a 450W, of course there'll be a big difference. If you compare 600W and 620W then it's not that huge.
My rig is very similar to your setup and I'm running on a Gigabyte Odin 550W. Since PSU is cheap these days, you might also want to consider the Corsair HX620 with some extra room for power. |

QUOTE(ocz @ May 30 2008, 05:26 AM) For me its great.Nothing is so good and bad about it. You should do a one time investment because if you sell and buy the HX620, you'll lose the money unnecessarily. I like that HX620 but no point changing since I got the Odin 550W already. I'll keep it for some time since it's good enough for now.The cables are soft and easy to bend, not very long too and easy too do management. *i think want to sell it & get the corsair HX620. |
