I googled & searching for ideas to mask the beam for sometimes, and realise there is option to ignore it n let it exposed. 😂 reason is i dont wan to sacrify ceiling height. It does not look bad or obvious bcoz the beam is same height as the kitchen drop down plaster ceiling that has L box edge with RGB light. It gives the impression of ceiling box up at living room and dinning table area. Ppl may thought the beam is purposely created drop down L box

I understand what u mean, now make me curious... I marked in the photo. Your bare concrete ceiling on top of dining area is same height as plaster ceiling at your living room? Seems strange cos that would mean the concrete ceiling on your living room is higher...

Plaster ceiling i did mention that it is done by contractor. Mayb u saw one of the other user post here that he DIY his plaster ceiling & it is his field.

If u use xiaomi smarthome system, it is better to use aqara motorized curtain, coz u can know the status of the curtain whether it is in close or open state. The time i order taobao item, i never think of getting a proper smarthome system. Due to tight budget, i go for broadlink product that use RF to control my dooya curtain, which is bad decision. RF motor is around 100-200 cheaper that aqara. They share same curtain track. I can always replace my dooya with aqara.

RGB LED strip bought from taobao. There is three type, RF, IR & bluetooth.
It comes with remote control. I use broadlink Rm pro to learn the RF remote control signal to control the led strip.
My smarthome setup is using homeassistant on raspberry pi. Automation is through homeassistant & broadlink rm pro. I setup my homeassistant app, accessible from outside.

Broadlink rm pro can learn my hypp tv n tv IR signal. I link alexa, broadlink rm pro, xiaomi gateway together under homeassistant on a raspberry pi. Guides from youtube n google & smarthome sifu at telegram chatgroup.

Dont know the link still work not

About your Dooya motorized curtain, u mentioned u got 3 motors? Is that 1 motor using for 1 window, so u got 3 motors for 3 windows?

I'm looking at Aqara curtain motor cos I will build my smarthome system using all Xiaomi products, easier for noob like me cos everything can be under 1 app and it's easy to configure the automation rules in-app and the app is like my control hub can on off whatever I choose. tongue.gif

If ask me to configure, write script into Raspberry Pi, etc... I think I will give up before even start LOL doh.gif

I figured using Xiaomi products is still wayyyy cheaper than those proprietary smarthome systems those sellers at HomeDec try to liok customers to the tune of RM20k rclxub.gif

Btw, can your Dooya curtains be configured to open/close according to some automation rules? ie. scheduled open/close, open when door is opened, close when temperature >32degC?

Yes xiao mi app allow u to do those automation for ur aqara motor curtain.

If ur window curtain open at centre & u want both side open together n move together, u only need one motor with long railing. Mine another curtain open at centre but i want each side to move independant, so i use two railing and two motor. U need to tell seller what kina opening so that they provide u the ready setup railing. If not, actually u can disamble the railing and convert it to single side open or one motor centre open railing yourself if u r handy man.

This photo I'm quite confused by the curtain railing socket for motor placement... Is it a room with 2 windows separated by a concrete wall in between? How come there is a curtain railing socket in the middle? U open the curtains from both sides towards the middle?

The railing both end looks similar that can install motor at either end. The photo that u circled is the middle where two individual railing meet and the curtain panels will move to the side opposite direction.

U dont need two motor n two railing like my case if u dont need each curtain panel to move independant. Alternative is one long railing & one motor on either end. Ask seller to setup ur railing to open at centre & both side curtain panel will move simultaneously

I see... Thanks for the clarification. May I know how do u put power supply to the motor? Do u install a Switch socket outlet at the wall or wall switch somewhere else which can off/on? Or do u wire directly to the electrical DB without any on/off?

By the way, any idea if Aqara or Xiaomi has any motor for blinds? I didn't manage to find... Ideally if can work with the Mi Home app will be the best for integration with everything for automation.

very nice thread and thanks for the sharing TS. I was looking to do the same as well after 1-2 months of research.

Mind to share which sea freight provide you use for taobao?
For china electric appliances, do you change from china 3 Pin to UK 3 Pin? or adaptor will do?

My sea freight rate is quite expensive. Rm 50 per 0.1m3. I use my regional based sea freight where i can collect the item myself at their office in butterworth, asiadaigou, bcoz most of the time my order is small amount. U can try to ask ur friend to recommend cheaper one

Some wall socket i change to china type, but most electric appliances i use adaptor. Either will do bcoz the china local electric appliance voltage is same as ours
