I am using Technicolor MediaAccess TG389ac (ver 16.3) Wifi Router, always experience WIFI connection failed without any reason, the only way to resolve is to reboot the WIFI Router,

Any help?

Sounds like your router is overheating and failing, I would suggest calling Maxis if you are still under warranty. If not, get your own router.

it isn't overheating issue, this is new maxis install wifi router, i suspended the firmware bug, it is only good after reboot
are you using the same wifi router?

There’s something physically wrong with it then. I suggest you call Maxis and get a replacement router as it sounds like you are still under warranty.

I was, but I switched to Unifi, so am using my own router now. My Technicolor was good though and have no problems.

I am using the same Technicolor and firmware as yours. On the advice of my office's IT personnel, if a router is connected for too much tasks, e.g. LAN, Telephone, wireless etc, it may need to reset once a while for maximum performance.

He recommended me to switch off the wireless and use an AP for the WIFI. I am using the 389AC for my LAN, Telephone and also astro. I use a TP Link AP500 for my WIFI.

It is working beautifully and I don't need to reset anything.

Some AP in the region of RM500+ to consider: TPLINK AP500 and Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR

Your office IT personnel is right, however, that advice only applies to low end to mid end router. If you are using a high end router, with higher RAM and stronger processor, it doesn’t matter if there is more tasks, as your router can handle it.

Yes... if we use existing *cheap* router that comes with ISP. As for maxis router, it is used for DECT phone and also internet (and also astro iptv whistling.gif ) Not many high end routers in the market can be used to replace the Technicolor 398AC, if you want the all-in-one package...

My TPLink AP500 serves me well, and I am happy with it. However, I think the Ubiquiti UAP-AC-LR would be better.

Yes I definitely agree with you. The routers that comes from the ISP are usually really bad and cheap, and the Maxis router is one of them that does the job, but not optimally. Ubiquiti caters to the enterprise market, so it will, definitely be better than the TP-Link which caters for home use.

I have the same issue as well. TG784n v3. The radio gets unstable after a while and have to restart it. Useless router, customers have to suffer with unstable service.

Just change the router. When I was with Maxis Fibre, this is one of the routers that they gave to me. I just unplug it and keep it in the box, and have never use it at all, after having a lot of problems with it.
