Guys, Need your idea how to fix this. My laptop consistently Disk Usage hit up to 100% especially few application open up such as Google Chrome, Email, Microsoft Word / Excel.

I had tried all google search disable superfetch whatsoever its doesn't fix my issue. Reported to HP, the technician guy onsite just advise disable all the HP services however it just solve for temporary and now its back again.

My laptop specs as below:

OS: Windows 10 Home Single Language 64-bit
Processor: I5-7200 @2.5GHZ
RAM: 4GB Micron 2133Mhz
HDD: WDC WD10JPVX-60JC3T0

Suggest you upgrade to Solid State Drive, it will solve your issue and performance of your laptop will be much more responsive.

Change the HDD to SSD
Not only will it solve the 100% disk usage, but it will also boost your overall system performance

And if you have some more extra money, upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB but only after switching to SSD is completed

Firstly check if the hard disk has any problems with Crystaldiskinfo.

I can almost be certain that the disk usage problem is caused by some HP services/ background app. You could remove all of those services. But sometimes they cause some issues if they have some custom drivers that is installed with it.

The best solution is to backup your data and do a full reset without saving anything. Let windows detect your hardware and install its qualified hardware drivers.

I used to have the same problem until I added an SSD to it.

Problem solved and booting Windows was a breeze. You would never want to live without SSDs after this!

Just upgrading the RAM wouldn't solve his issues
Hence the reason why I wrote adding another RAM only if he has extra money

SSD always comes first

the disk usage on task manager doesnt show you the full picture on whats really going on especially on win10.

the only time you should be concerned is when applications start slowing down. check with resource monitor and see which exact process is hitting the disk.

skip the driver part.

high suspicion is pagefile.

I just bought a Pavilion 14 2 days back and I am dealing with this same problem.

I don't know if this is the cause to it but I'm also unable to update windows. It just says "Initializing update" forever.

I also notice that updating apps in Windows Store gets stuck downloading.

I get that you guys advice to just change to SSD but after spending money to get the laptop, knowing that to fix this is to spend more really frustrate me.

that is a different problem and is a windows problem. as ive mentioned, changing hardware is not always the solution as most people suggest although it does solve some of the underlying cause of slow perf as OS is getting more complicated and ssd is a must, but of coz there are situation where ssd is not needed like for a parents laptop where they dont do things fast enough. open a new thread.
