Hi,

looking for a note book. would appreciate comment and advice.

Some brand in mind.

Compaq Presario V3308TU
FTEC W2 series

What about Thinkpad R60 & ASUS A8M? A friend recommended ASUS A8M.

Budget - RM2.5k to 3.3k

Spec
Most prob Intel Core Duo or Core 2 Duo.
What's the diff between Core Duo and Core 2 Duo (other then the price)

What abt AMD Turion 64 x 2?

The general rule is, avoid Ftec no matter what your budget is.

Kindly add what will you be using your laptop for, as that might help in choosing which laptop that suits you

Thanks for your advice.

I plan to use it for my work (I work in a Engineering Consulting environment) and personal use. Not really into games. Sometimes need to view CAD files.

What is your opinion on AMD Turion 64X2 against Intel duo 2 core?
A friend recommended AMD Turion.
Not sure abt AMD. Heard that it overheats etc.

Cannot decide whether to go for AMD or Intel

Would really appreciate your reply.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

Screen
What is the advantage of having the new type of laptop screen? Its like a glass against the older type (matt type)

I noticed that you gets shadows on the glass type (they called it brightview technology in HP)

Graphics
Other then the price which is costlier for the dedicated graphics against the integrated one, what are the difference in perfomance? If you do not play games on the laptop?
Will the integrated one be sufficient? Any advice?
