Hi all, need your recommendation here:

I have RM8K to spend on new notebook.

Recommend me the fastest, lightest and loaded with practical features with that amount of budget.

My normal use are surfing and office works.

Thanks in advance

Well, have to agree with you in this one, but still depends on what does the poster means by Fastest, is he going to play games on it, or is he going to watch movies and that's about it. Fast and Light normally are mutually exclusive, save the MBP, for Fast and perhaps good, VAIO SZ sounds a really good one. For Faster then SZ but a tad more heavier, it's the MBP. and there are the 14 inchers that are lighter than the MBP, and a little slower than it, ....namely....the Benq S41.

By the way, is it time that the mods set up a format on enquiries regarding laptop purchases? Most of the time, the questions posted aren't really comprehensive and makes response a tad slower and honestly, the questions sometimes are so general that you can answer from the script i.e., "well, it depends on what you are using it for." more often than not, that would be a standard response before a poster decided to give more details

Hi guys, thanks for replying.

Sorry that i raised quite a vague question.

"Fastest" means shorter waiting time when i run excel spreadsheet or loading graphics with the browser for example.

I use ibook currently but i am stucked with it unable to syncronise and allow me to install PPC software which i wanted to buy over the net.
So i'm thinking to have another window based that can run with no problem.

I know the new macbook can run windows too, but not all softs are able to run on the platform. I've been told, that even actviesync cant run on it. Anyone here actually having this problem ?
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. Checked sony SZ series just now, looks good maybe this is the best deal so far.

But the unit looks fragile. So i hold my decision. Any more good comparable models out there.

How about Lenevo, HP, Twinheadd etc etc

Waah, i thought i can easily decide what laptop to buy. After brwosing through this forum, now i am more confused.

Was considering Lenovo T61, i discovered the battery is protruding at the back !...cancelled

Then ASUS A8jr...no finger print...worry about someone sneeking into my XXX files :-).....also cancelled.

Then Macbook Pro.....too precious for my "outdoor" use

Then Sony Sz....too fragile , an issue of build quality as many say.

OKAY NOW...i'm considering Satelite M200 E412 or M100-2111E.

Pls advise me which one between the two. Assuming i upgrade both unit with 2 GB RAM , Which one offer the best PERFORMANCE ?

Which of the 2 units offer better upgradability for Graphics and Processing Power .

Design wise, which looks better ?

Btw, it is difficult to have reviews on both of these models. Hope forumers can give feedbacks on the model mentioned ?

Thanks guys. If nothing negative, i will shoot to Lowyatt and get one.

JOHN !, any good price and offering for this model or not ?

Regards.

Anyway John, where in Lowyat your outlet lar ?
