Dear monkeymagic, my suggestion for u is go for HP Pavilion 2505TX

Intel core 2 duo processor T7300 (2.0GHz)
2gb RAM
HDD 160 GB SATA
14.1 TFT WXGA high definition Widescreen LCD panel with 15.9 Aspect ratio with Brightview technology
DVD +/- RW double layer drive
Bluetooth
Web cam 1.3 megapixel
Fingerprint
Vista premium
Weight around 2.5kg(consider protable device also)

Price = RM 5499
The HP design is much prettier than the Dell XPS M1330.
i have seen the XPS in klcc PC fair, i feel the device is not solid. Earlier i thought to buy M1330 but after i seen it, i switch my target to HP pavilion TX 1200.

If you can budget at 6-7k, take a look on Sony Vaio!!!!

1. Brand : Didn't care much
2. Budget : RM3000 (lower is better) if can lower than RM2000
3. Specs/Size
- Weight factor is an issue (use as a traveling notebook)
- Didn't need graphic card or super performance just need it to perform simple task (surfing, office task, presentation)
- Hard disk didn't care (maybe 40gb is enough)
- Use it outside (coffee shop, train/bus station & etc) as a surfing laptop (use 3G USB Modem)
- Excellent battery life time
- Good/neat design
- Great after-service and warranty

Conclusion
Need a lightweight laptop (use as a traveling notebook only) because i already got my own PC. No need high-end spec just made sure can surfing, do office task and presentation smoothly.
*
If i were you i will go for Compaq Presario V3400, there are several models, check it out which one suit u(beware some of it are freedos)
Besides, i will take a look on Dell inspire 1420... 2k+ also. check it out at its web.

I need a ultra-portable. I'd like some suggestions from you guys.

Weight: less than 1.8 kgs (with batteries)
Screen size: 12.1"/13.3"
Budget: less than RM 5000
Brand: Any brand but Acer
*
Go for Dell XPS M1330 13.3 inch at 1.7+KG
But personally i have seen the M1330 at PC fair, the magnesium cover and the palmrest material is not as good as i think thus, i choose HP at last... juz got it few days ago.
If you do not like Dell, take a look on fujitsu... do not forget TwinHead also as twinhead has several 12.2 models with lower price.

My friend is looking for a laptop to bring to UK for further studies.

Brand: Preferably Toshiba, HP or Fujitsu (or any other brand that's well built)
Budget: strictly LESS than 5000
Screen size/ Weight: 12-13 inches and preferably as light as possible
Specs: Any spec that gives the best value and no, she don't play games.

I'd like you guys to recommend a few models so she can choose and preferably of different price range.
*
Ask her to get Sony Vaio CR. RM 4988 if i not mistaken.
perfect for ladies, good in pink or red color pretty good and solid. she will love it!
she is not gaming player thus the spec is okay.

*
if you are not gaming purpose. ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 can serve you more than 2 years unless you are a graphic designer then u need higher spec.

I am planning to buy a Benq S41 Joybook or a Acer 5920G, I will most probably go for the joybook because of the sleek looks compared to the ugly 5920G. I was just wondering, Benq isn't really popular for laptops, i've only heard of thier line of laptops recently, and acer has been around for many years, i was wondering if anyone has any problems with the Joybook, or is there anything I would want to know to go for the Acer instead of the joybook? Please help.
*
Not so sure about the BenQ service but if u are normal use, i think the lappy shd be okay. Strongly suggest you to get it as i do not like acer as well especially the gemstone design. S41 is solid and the design is simple nice. For me it's not bad and can be considered due to the price is reasonable too!

hmm i'm not a graphic designer, and right now i have 2 lappies in my mind

1 is the HP pavilion TX 1221 which u mentioned above and the Fujitsu Lifebook A3110 biggrin.gif

Dillemma lol. The fujitsu has nice and clear lcd while the pavillion has quite a nice spec for its price
*
TX 1221au and LifeBook A3110 cannot be compared as TX is 12.1 screen and A3110 is 15.4.
It depends on your needs. TX is much more cheaper and it's only 2.0kg. while A3110 is 2.75kg, somemore you need to spend money on upgrading the RAM as it comes with 512MB only.
Of course, if u can afford and dun mind the weight, then go for Fujitsu.
If u looking for smaller lappy then TX is the best for you. I juz bought TX one month ago, pretty small and solid. the drawback is only the screen and u need more RAM if u run alot of applications.

I think the weight of the sony (2.5kgs) would put her off, i guess she would be carrying it quite often. Less than 2kgs would be much more manageable for her.
*
Then u should look for Fujitsu S series. 13.3 inch with below 2.0kg. Take a tour on Fujitsu, Im not so sure about the price. in my mind, i would ask u to get S6410.
http://www.fujitsu.com/my/services/computi.../sseries/s6410/

Besides, if she can wait for about 2months delivery date, why not consider about the Dell XPS M1330.

hey guys! Can u please help me find the most affordable 13 inch laptop , that is not a BenQ or Acer ?

I don't want a Dell XPS either as i dunno what the price shot up to RM 46++, i remembered it being RM 3999 last month or so.

My budget is under RM 4000 and im just using it for surfing and typing.
*
GO for Dell XPS. They have reduced the price, take a look on this.
http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/products/p...s=dhs&cs=mydhs1

Besides u may take a look for Fujitsu S series but the price might be higher.
Thus Dell XPS is the best deal at the moment.

Lee, if you don't mind using AMD then take Aspire 4520 and spend money to upgrade to 2 gig RAM with another RM300. Instead of choosing intel T5250 but u only get 512RAM. For me i will choose 4520 with processor of AMD then upgrade to 2 gig RAM thus the price will be around RM 2350 (still the worth buying)

Aspire 4315 definitely not recommended as it is linux unless u have ur budget at that range.

I am already surveying around to get a laptop next year when I enter college. I need some recommendations.

1. Any brand but Lenovo and HP because they are rather expensive.
2. Specs: 1Gb RAM and above, Centrino Duo Core, 120Gb hard disk, DVD combo writer
3. Price: RM2.5k to RM 3.2k
*
Get Hp pavilion TX 1221au for RM 2999. i juz bought it one month ago. 1 gig RAM, 160 HDD. DVD combo, AMD processor. Pretty good for student and home user use.
Other recomdation is Twinhead, Small and price good with its spec. Or else u have to see compaq or acer already.

I was considering Twinhead but I doubt it's reliability. I got some brochures yesterday and to date i am wondering what is the difference between DOS and Windows OS. Is Dell mobile PCs worth the buy?
*
One of my friend in malacca told me that Twinhead is fantastic with its performance if u don't mind its look. It's small, light and price attractive! But personally i have not tried it b4. Anyway, you can check their service. I think there would not be a big problem.
Dell is a most wanted PC. Great price and spec too if u like its design. The latest Dell XPS has cool look. Go to have a look at its web. One thing i dislike Dell is they change their price and spec pretty fast, for example, u get a 5k laptop from Dell, after 1-2 weeks u will notice that the laptop that u bought have reduced the price to 4.5k, or with the 5k they offer another great deal in better spec. This is the feeling i do not like. Unlike HP or Sony they have control the price so well and stable, u will not get disappointed by HP or Sony or Fujitsu or Asus toshiba and.... anyway, diff organization have diff way to satisfy their customers.

i would ask u to take XPS. with 5.5k budget, u can get the premium complete cover from Dell. It's pretty good, 3 year full cover! some more Dell XPS is slim and sexy, but i think u need to wait 1-2 month for delivery hehe.

Hi,

Want to find a laptop to travel around and light gaming.
-Budget around 4k.
-Screen 12' to 14'.
- Light weight.

Any suggestion for the notebook?
I found Compaq V1222TU quite good, any review?
One more question, is there significant different between C2D T5250 and T7250?
*
Get Dell XPS M1330 or Inspiron 1420. otherwise get Acer. u may have a look on BenQ S41 also if u do not like Dell model and Acer design. BenQ S41 price pretty reasonable.
T7250 is santa rosa processor. Run faster. if you do run high graphic progrom like illustrator, then processor doesnt affect much.

Go for Sony Vaio CR.. with 5k budget u can get a decent graphic card already. Besides there was color who suit every girl. Totally design for female. Other alternative is HP pavillion. Go check the in the market there was a model which was launch recently(a week ago), i not sure with the model but the design and really sleek and pretty. Hope u pick what you like.

Preferred specs:
at least 1.8ghz processor
2gb RAM
at least 14" screen
100gb HDD
not too heavy for me to bring around

I think Dell had package come with windows XP one. Besides, look for compaq, most of compaq model at 2.0k+ come with freedos. I read newspaper today notice that NEC model also come with freedos but around 2.7k, perhaps over ur budget.

what if it's coupled with a 8600GT?
*
C2D T5250 is more than enough to with with ur daily task like assignment and movie, if budled with 8600 then it's more perfect u can play better graphic games and run photoshop or illustrator.

Inspiron 1520 or xps 1530?
1520 u config u get 2.4 processer while xps only 2.2...
which better?
*
Dell is definitely trusable. Most largest or 2nd largest computer maker in the world if i not mistaken.

Go for XPS 1530 as it's quite latest model, pretty nice, come with better quality and technology. of course the drawback is u have to pay more if wan to get same processor with inspiron 1520.
Somehow, 2.4 or 2.2 might not a big difference, so if i were u i will definitely go XPS instead of Inspiron.
