I'm currently trying to find a suitable laptop..so I'm asking for help from all of you gurus..so, here's my requirements :

1) core 2 duo, at least 2ghz
2) must be 2gb ram
3)screen size... preferable 15'
4) graphic card : must be able to support direct X10 and preferably geforce brand, e.g. geforce 8600gt?
5)windows vista home or home premium...as long as it's vista
6)err... maximum rm 5000... cant really cross that

I'm looking specifically a laptop that can deliver a nice or mediocre experience, games such as dawn of war, battle field 2 ,need for speed :carbon and so on and so forth...

will acer's aspire 5290g fits the job nicely? the design and weight isn't all that cool, but as long as it performs as it should then it's ok in my book... so will it be able to deliver a smooth gaming experience? or am i asking too much from an above average laptop?

In short... Yes... The Gemstone would do well (even my M1210 with its aging GF7400go plays DOW and BF2 at medium-high just fine... Carbon's another story though)...

But like I said, it's an untested commodity... The only reviews so far on the net were (IMHO) not THAT in depth... We need somebody here to get their hands on it and test it silly... blacktrix?
so, is 1.8ghz processing speed fast enough? i plan on a 2.0ghz, but sadly, the brochure for gemstone only wrote 1.8ghz, too bad then...is it acceptible?

currently, the only worry i have is the heat thingy everyone's talking bout, i'm scared to fork out that much just to have it burned inside just cause i cant stop from playing too much...

and so i hope that gemstone would be able to run starcraft 2 smoothfully even with mediocre graphics.. would be sad to know that I cant play the most anticipated game on my laptop..

hmm..so the gemstone's ram is dual channelled? cool, but i thought it was 2gb though... if after bump up, how much would the gemstone cost anyway? and the processor for it is T7100 right?

if it was all black, it'll be in my wet dreams =)

Unfortunately, they made it greyish ==, no matter, heh, in that case, I'd be trying 3gb or 4gb too, better safe than sorry for all those memory hogging programs and games.

it'll be a whole lot better if there's confirmation on whether starcraft 2's palyable on it... that'll be like the best news ever

.....wow, you're one lucky guy... the major concern over this laptop is the heat management it seems, I for one like to see how the gemstone hold its own on this area too

planing on a speedball for this baby =)

of course, that's AFTER i buy this laptop ==... btw, is it limited in stock?
