Question question

comparing :
AMD turion x2 2.0GHz with C2D 1.67GHz
wat's the difference between them, in all specs?

Compaq Presario V3616 comes with Nvidia GF Go 7150 or Nvidia GF Go 6150??

I'm looking for a laptop, my budget is around 3000, mainly for Uni assignment, music, video, gaming(war3, Medieval 2 Total War) & all sorts of internet use. Mayb going for 2GB ram. Compaq Presario V3616 is in my mind for the moment. Mayb someone can recommend more or giv some comment on it?

THANKS

Hi guys, I'm in the market for a notebook. 1st timer here.

I prefer HP, but will look out for other brands as well.

Looking for :
- weight under 2.7 - 3kg
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.2 / 2.4 GHz
- at least 120GB hard disk
- at least 1024 DDR2 RAM ( or should I go for 2048 DDR2, since I want to run Vista Aero + latest Office package? )
- fingerprint
- webcam

I am quite interested in HP Pavilion DV2616TX, but is this notebook customisable? I suppose the price stated over at HP Malaysia's website is slightly higher than market prices right? Anyway, if you guys got any other recommendations, I'm up for it!
*
HP Pavilion DV2616TX cannot customised.the selling price on website is same with retail price= RM5499

Am trying to decide between the M1330 and W7S. Mainly for work and study use, surfing the net, perhaps a little gaming (maybe WOW).
Basically this is what I dug out as a comparison:
Asus W7S
Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz
13.3" WXGA LCD
1.3 Megapixels
1.5GB DDR2 SDRAM
160GB SATA HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium
DVD Super Multi (Light Scribe)
4-in-1 SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO
NVIDIA Geforce 8400M G with 128MB GDDR2 VRAM
Wireless ABG
Bluetooth V2.0+EDR
315x226.5x29-36.9mm
1.95kg
2 Years Global Warranty

- RM5,988.00 -

Would like to know which would be recommended. No idea about things like battery life, heat generated, reliability, ease of installation of Windows XP etc.
*
i think ASUS F9S will be better choice

Asus F7S
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz
12.1" WXGA LCD
1.3 Megapixels
1GB DDR2 SDRAM
160GB SATA HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium
DVD Super Multi (Light Scribe)
4-in-1 SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO
NVIDIA Geforce 8400M G with 128MB GDDR2 VRAM
Wireless ABG
Bluetooth V2.0+EDR
2 Years Global Warranty

- RM5,288.00 -

Please recommend a good notebook for me. Here are the details.

1. Brand.
Any brand. But I'm biased towards Apple (but then AGAIN they dont have the budget and specs that I wanted). HP is fine. I'm open to suggestions really.

2. Budget.
About 4k

3. Specs.
. 2GB
. Core 2 Duo 1.8 -2.0
. 80gb space and up
. 13" display and up

4. Other details
I'm a designer and would like to have a system that can run a few heavy programs together without lagging.
Great graphics display and sleep design is a bonus hehe.

I'm also wondering if the Compaq Presario V3508TU is a good buy. This is by far the most compatible to the specs that I want. And how much would it cost cuz the price not shown in the HP website.

Any recommendations and opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hmm seems like a lot of biased opinions towards Dell, no offense though. But can someone tell me why is it better than other brands? I personally know 2 person who bought the same model of Dell at the same time, 1 being no prob at all but the other is disastrous after 1/2 year. That's why I'm staying away from Dell...

been eyeing on Vaio SZ58GN/C, but my dad's friend recommended Toshiba as he knows the supplier. so I think Toshiba A200-P532, Portege M600-E345 or Portege R500-E262 would be my choice.

but I still prefer Vaio tho, cos it's more stylish, right? please advise. thanks smile.gif
*
if u choose vaio sz58,then u only can compare with portege r500-e262.in this case i would suggest u to get vaio sz58 since it have better graphic card, cheaper price, better processor, better lcd screen, better style

for quality, both is same since both assembly in japan.

after sales service, vaio would be more convenient if u stay at kl.unless u stay near glenmarie

The VAIO SZ is in a completely different class from the Portege R500. The R500 is an ultra portable with a ULV processor, so it's pretty weak except for basic office tasks. However, it is much lighter and very portable. You also get an SSD option with the R500, but the RAM is limited to 1 or 2GB depending on configuration (as 1 stick is soldered onboard).
The SZ is a full featured notebook with a normal C2D processor. It is also much better built than the Toshiba, which is very flimsy. It doesn't matter that the Toshiba is built in Japan, it still has poor built quality.
*
i know got different, but portege r500-e262 only come with sata hdd and not ssd.and the battery life almost same although portege r500 come with ULV7600,in this case better choose vaio sz58 that come with T7700(thanks to the sony hybrid graphics system and hybrid hdd)

but still some1 will stick to portege r500
