Today Lowyat have a notebook carnival. I saw this Asus model Z99JR.. But I search from Asus website... I cant find any Z99JR model under Asus... Im doubt now whether this model Z99JR is under Asus or not... Is there anybody can help...?

My brother prefer to buy Acer Aspire 4315-050508Mi and ugrade the RAM to 1GB which more economic...
But he also need to use the laptop to play Warcraft...
But my advice to him is to buy Acer Aspire 4720-1A0512 and upgrade the RAM to 1GB which will be better...

Hi guys, I'm in the market for a notebook. 1st timer here.

I prefer HP, but will look out for other brands as well.

Looking for :
- weight under 2.7 - 3kg
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.2 / 2.4 GHz
- at least 120GB hard disk
- at least 1024 DDR2 RAM ( or should I go for 2048 DDR2, since I want to run Vista Aero + latest Office package? )

I am quite interested in HP Pavilion DV2616TX, but is this notebook customisable? I suppose the price stated over at HP Malaysia's website is slightly higher than market prices right? Anyway, if you guys got any other recommendations, I'm up for it!

Hmm seems like a lot of biased opinions towards Dell, no offense though. But can someone tell me why is it better than other brands? I personally know 2 person who bought the same model of Dell at the same time, 1 being no prob at all but the other is disastrous after 1/2 year. That's why I'm staying away from Dell...

been eyeing on Vaio SZ58GN/C, but my dad's friend recommended Toshiba as he knows the supplier. so I think Toshiba A200-P532, Portege M600-E345 or Portege R500-E262 would be my choice.

but I still prefer Vaio tho, cos it's more stylish, right? please advise. thanks

The VAIO SZ is in a completely different class from the Portege R500. The R500 is an ultra portable with a ULV processor, so it's pretty weak except for basic office tasks. However, it is much lighter and very portable. You also get an SSD option with the R500, but the RAM is limited to 1 or 2GB depending on configuration (as 1 stick is soldered onboard).
The SZ is a full featured notebook with a normal C2D processor. It is also much better built than the Toshiba, which is very flimsy. It doesn't matter that the Toshiba is built in Japan, it still has poor built quality.
