I too have been looking at this Mizu brand as it is the top seller in online shop for engine oil.
The thing I don't like it that is it hiding behind a "Japanese" image to give people the feeling that it is made in Japan.
However, it does have a lot of nicely made infomercial that is trying to boost confidence with potential buyers.
Also the fact that it is made in Malaysia made me want to support local business. Provided that are honest with their product.
So I am going to test this oil soon on my next oil change.

QUOTE(kotaro_minami @ Sep 3 2019, 05:35 PM) Every brand sure face negative comment during new, specially in the era everyone can talk openly. For me, whoever talk but never experience it first are totally talking BS. Up to you to pay more for the BRAND and the company advertisement cost. 2 years in the market yet nobody claim any damage but thousands are happy with it. Proof its no a shit. Don't take the comments in Lazada/Shopee so seriously. There are lots of fake products being sold that are shit but people never test properly, just give 5 star right away. Like the fake sdcards being sold. It got thousands of purchase with almost 5 stars. https://shopee.com.my/Kingston-Memory-Card-...4197.1463647498Now back to the talks of Mizu or other unbranded EO. Not all of them are shit. There might be some that is really genuinely trying to make good product. We should give these local brands a chance and not outright categorize them as bad product. That is why this thread was created. To allow real users who have tested to comment. For me, as long as the engine oil is doing what it is supposed to do then I am good. I don't rate an EO by it giving more power or not. I don't believe in that too cause EO is EO. Same rated EO should basically give the same type of performance and protection. Maybe certain good quality one provide 0.1% extra HP. That's fine by me as I am not racing my car.

Thank you @jay chua cc. It is good to have an expert in EO industry to reply here.
Can I know what are the test methodology done by your side? Are there any tests we can do as end-user at home to find out quality of certain EO?

QUOTE(steven789 @ Oct 30 2019, 03:55 PM) How about this Toyota fully synthetic 0w20? Is it locally blended? They're selling quite cheap in Lazada, about RM105. What is your concern exactly? What if it is locally blended or not? Does it matter? For me, as long as it is genuine it is good enough. Toyota will not blend something with bad quality as their reputation is at stake.

QUOTE(IamAHuman @ Nov 1 2019, 09:21 AM) To me, I think Mizu EO is a safe bet as it's assured by lonpac insurance + it's API certified! So, it's pretty 'solid' with the credentials. Few months back, I bought this 'fully synthetic' brand called Kroner. Saw the ad on lazada and shopee and guess it's impulse buying, I bought it believing on what is stated in the ad. Further research, I found that it's not API certified, not listed under BMW LL-01 etc etc. Now the bottle is just sitting my at storeroom. Don't know whether to use it or not Anyone used this brand before? Use it. Don't waste. Maybe just use for 3000 km. Or use it for when you need to flush the engine. You can change to this oil then use engine additive that clean the engine. Once the engine is clean, the oil will be dirty. Then change to another proper oil

QUOTE(ah_suknat @ Nov 1 2019, 08:41 AM) >buy 50k car > Extra rm50 also want to skimp That's what a lot of kiasu, kiasi people think. Oh..I buy 50k car, I so rich..I don't need to skimp on RM50. Not for me. For me, it's about value. If RM50 EO is good enough for me, why need to pay more?

@jay chua CC
Have you heard of Tokyo Drift EO? They claim their oil can last 15k km. This also seems like a Malaysia blend and is using Japanese name. Not much information can be found on them. Same thing...using Japanese-like naming...Mizu, Kaito, Tokyo Drift...get the drift? LOL...

QUOTE(killerpigglet @ Nov 5 2019, 02:18 PM) Overhaul means nothing damage. Probably lots of oil crust in the engine which already built up for long time. So the suspect could actually be the Mizu oil that you have been using a long time. Still, thanks for sharing. It is a learning experience for us.

Should change the topic of this thread to "cheap engine oil that is okay".
Now in my testing list:
Dynolube (seems fine as no longer driving that car) Mizu (bought 2 bottles) Kaito (maybe buying on 11.11) Morrison ... anymore?

QUOTE(voscar @ Nov 7 2019, 08:26 PM) Bardahl brand has been around for a long time. Didn't realize they are such affordable. A quick search shows that it is originate from USA. Will keep this brand in mind on my next EO purchase. Thanks. Edit: found this posting from a Bardahl EO user. Looks like I will stay away from this brand. https://www.mycarforum.com/forums/topic/270...th-bardahl-oil/This post has been edited by abubin: Nov 8 2019, 03:45 PM

QUOTE(Mhd shah @ Aug 7 2020, 06:50 AM) I'm using shell ultra. tried Mizu 10w-40 at my spectra 2005, it was good for the 1st 2-3000 km but became heavier after that so I changed back to shell ultra at 4500 km When you change at 3000km, what was the oil condition?
