I used to be able to make calls from my Macbook Pro to non-IOS contacts via FaceTime audio calls. Now I can only contact folks with Apple phones but not others. I checked online and it says to enable "Wi-fi calling" under Settings->Phone (see below) - but it does not appear on my iPhone!

Apple Support says some providers block this feature. Is this true? IF yes then I'm leaving Maxis

Is WiFi and Volte calls better quality than normal voice calls? I would imagine everyone on Maxis OnePlan not worrying about phone calls, unless of course they are to overseas numbers.

thats where Digi Wifi Calling helps, it doesn't matter what your reception is outside, it redirect all your calls via wifi.

Actually it is not really like this, if the mobile signal is moderate or strong, it might change to normal cellular mode.

This is quite annoying, because if my iPhone 6s Plus is near to windows side, it might change to cellular mode, but when I'm inside the living room where there is no mobile signal, then sometimes it failed to change to wifi calling, and get no signal at all.

Yeah, which is why I've never considered switching telcos even though they are expensive. Actually when you come to think of it, they aren't that expensive these days given the amout of data quota they provide. When I first subscribed to MOP128, it used to have only 3GB data laugh.gif

For frequent traveler ...love me, having wifi calling is superb. When i am overseas and connected to a fast enough wifi, i can make calls to family and business partners as if i never left the country, and receive them, without thisse roaming charges. Save a lot of money.

Im on umobile, with the free data roaming, seems the deal.

Sad that maxis don't have both volte and wifi calling.

Your good wifi connection only contributes 50% of the good quality call, the other end must also have good internet connection too.

Why whatsapp audio is not as good as normal call because it does not have quality assurance, unlike normal call, whatsapp internet packet is not prioritize and does not have QOS control, so it is not perform good if internet line is congested, mobile calls such as VoLTE/Wifi calling can still have good quality even though the line is pretty congested.

Yes, you will still get call by other ppl as long as you are connected to wifi even it is on airplane mode (that is what I do now as it saves battery a lot)

When you are on wifi calling, your calls will be regarded as calling from Malaysia regardless where you are in the world

Being using Digi Wifi Calling for so many years. Last time I am always complaining for their poor signal before Digi introduce wifi calling.

Now my home is getting better even inside the basement floor. My home is using Unifi, because my home wifi connections are fast, excellent and stable.

Last time I have problems on receiving sms especially requesting TAC during bank online transfer. But now with wifi calling got no more sms reception delaying.

Maxis and celcom don’t have WiFi calling at the moment, for that, you’ll need to ask maxis... maybe because they want you to pay for roaming instead of using WiFi calling overseas

So far only maxis haven’t enabled VOLTE, celcom already have VOLTE(carrier setting is required)

Wow you bring back the old post from year 2018. I still can see my last post at above since August 13 2019.

Last time my house area has poor coverage of slow connection by Digi but recently I was found that Digi at my house area suddenly speedup til around 140mbps. My house is using unifi 500mbps. That's why I always keep my phone connected to wifi and set this wifi calling option always enabled.

This option is quite useful especially for those who are living in poor 4G coverage area. Even if you want to talk by phone calls, the voice is more clear and stable. No more putus-putus or robot sound.

Send SMS or receive SMS also have no issue. Even sometimes my phone is showing "No Service" due to poor signal. I still can receive calls and SMSs by enabled the Wifi Calling option.
