Hi All,

For X92 Box Fan.
Start your discussion about X92 Here!!

OK.
Here the thing, even this box is consider powerful with it spec/features and antutu score, it seem many basic feature is remove such as navigation bar / status bar / power On Off. Not to mention these box cannot video playback latest Youtube Version sweat.gif
After searching the net with Google and YouTube, I come to know it is not me alone having these difficulties.
Many user ranting the same things about these stuff.

It is time for me to update with custom firmware to enable back the basic features.
But I am a noob(Totally amateur) about this. confused.gif
Can somebody make a step-by-step guide on how to update firmware for X92.

My X92 Specs :
Android 6.0
RAM 3GB
ROM 32GB

Firmware :
X92 Firmware V7

You must have gotten a OLD link from freaktab. The latest version is V19 for android 6, V20 is for android 7.

I suggest you go on to 4pda, and use google translate to read the first page post #1 of this :-

In the firmware link, it mentioned there are these types of firmware :-

1. Firmware backups from users -This is to be used with TWRP. Learn how to use TWRP first. The correct version of TWRP is important, as it is specific to your model of device. The TWRP is also available from the post #1 of the above link.

Starting point :-



2. SD card firmware - This is to be used with SDCard. Get a PC to burn the ROM on the SDCard, and then you can install the firmware from the card.

Starting point :-

Windows PC, SDCard and Burn_Card_Maker.exe (3,01 MB) - software download link in post #1 of the above link.

3. For firmware from PC. Get a PC and a USB cable ( type A-to-type A cable ).

Yeah that's life, many choices it's upto you to choose to try out, which is the best for you.

Generally speaking, you cannot cannot jump from Android 6 to Android 7 and vice versa without going thru method 2 or method 3.

been reading the 4pda and it got way ahead of me..
may I know which is the android 6.0 V19 firmware for SD card installation..

it got me confuse, if want to used the Burn_Card_Maker_v.2.0.2.7z (1.29 MB), I need to download the firmware in .img right?
correct me if im wrong

I am reading from this:

Am I correct? download the file in .zip file the rename to ,img?

To be honest with you I have never used sambe's firmware, I am under the impression that he creates TWRP backup firmware, so to use his firmware, just use the TWRP method. But make sure you are already using the same version of Android.

For example, if you want to use his Android 6 firmware, make sure you are already using version 6 firmware, then you unzip his files on a USB HDD or any other storage. Then you boot up using TWRP, and select to restore from his backup. You are then done.

To use Burning_Card_maker, you can (1) download the rom for SDCard and do a RAW COPY over to the SDCard, or you (2) download the USB ROM, and run the burning_card_maker, it will allow you to write onto the SDCard.

After having SDCard prepared with the ROM, you then bring over to the TVBox, and (1) remove power (2) Insert SDCard (3) Press and hold the reset button using tooth pick (4) insert back the power. Upgrade/installation will start.

Finally after read through 4pda, I manage to update my X92 to V19.

Instruction from Samde on how to update the firmware:

I am using the method no.1 as all stock X92 tv box come with update&backup app.
Really easy.
SD Card need to be in FAT32 format and make sure only the firmware zip file in the SD Card. Delete other things in your SD Card.

Really happy to see all the necessity and basic feature appeared in V19.
Only thing is need to change the language from Russian biggrin.gif

I think you got the most stable ROM now because there are posts on the net which says the 7.1.2 ROM from the supplier isn't very stable ( but there are also other 7.1.2 ROMs from other sources. ).

The language can be changed by looking at the ICON. Go to the one with GEAR ( settings ), and then move down to the one with a GLOBE ( language ), and the move down to select English.

If you ROM is originally a Android 7 ROM, I think the about procedure mention is not going to work. Most likely need to use USB cable to burn the stock Android 6 ROM first, then only use the mentioned procedure.

The launcher used in the vasily firmware is this vorke launcher ( plus a few other installed launchers but not used as default ) :-



On need to watch the first 1-2 minutes of the video. The rest of the video nothing to do with x92.

I tried to update but halfway through it shown Error! So, I unplugged and replugged, now it's setting up the box e.g. like after a new format/update.. (in russian language)

Is this normal? Shouldn't the update completed and reboot itself instead of Error! and i had to manually unplug and replug the power cable? I used a 8gb sd card, formatted fat32, and only the update.zip file is in there..

I believe u already complete the update. I think the process take about 15min.
That is why your box showing new formatted version.
You can change the language at setting. Gear Icon. There find the globe Icon. Change language there.

After you have change the language, open the about device tab. It will show you your current firmware build.
At first reboot it will show you the counting number right?

Exactly. The firmware infos are updated. Just checking whether I'm doing it right.

Oh yeah, everytime i want to search something on playstore, the moment i tap at the search area (to key in the words), the playstore stopped and quit.

Is there a way for me to flash gapps manually?

Somewhere in the instruction, they recommend you to factory reset the box first, I guess you did not do that ?

What you can try to do it go the the apps to clean the data and cache related to gapps.

I thought the update&backup process (wipe data & wipe media), would do that. Oh well, will re-do it later then.

Most gapps related problems are fixed by clearing cache and data.

Okay I look a little closer to Vasily's work again, based on the documentation about the new kernel, it seems that he has fixed the front panel clock display issue in the new kernel. But really wonder why he did not integrate the changes into the ROM. So if one uses the ROM alone, he won't get the panel clock display working properly.

One has to follow the instruction mention in the kernel folders to use the alternate kernel ( which contains changes which can get the front panel clock working ).

oh that's not developed by him, that's why it is not integrated together ?

Hi. It is so nice to hv a dedicated thread for x92 as referrence for noobie like meself.

Anyw, i hv few question. I recently bought this x92 3/32gb box. This is my 1st tv box. I want to know:

1) how to determine whether this box support 5.8GHz or dual band wifi? Reason i ask is that theres an option in Hotspot settings seems that we can choose whether want to transmit/create 2.4 or 5ghz band hotspot. However, i cant enable the 5ghz band & theres no 5ghz options in the dropdown selection list. Only 2.4ghz available (refer photo). So i was wondering whether my wifi chip is faulty or the firmware is buggy or worst theres no dualband chip installed on this box. is there any apps that able to tell u ur box wifi band capability? I dont hv any other dual band device yet such as dual band router in other to rectify this matter. Im still looking for cheap & reliable router.

2) i found that the wifi connection on this box is rather weak. My box distance is about 10m to 12m away from my router & both are located in the living room (open space/non-barrier). Yet im loosing 1bar in the top wifi notification icon. I thought of upgrading to a better dBi dual band antenna with some minor diy modification.

So i just want to make sure whether this is a common issue with this x92 box or whether my box is faulty. Any helpful reply to this matter is muc appreciated. Tq!

1. The main use of the wifi on tv box is to make it a wifi client, you can determine if it supports dual band by connecting to either 2.4GH or 5GHz access point. From what you describe, it is likely that making the box behaving like an access point for 5GHz is not supported.

2. Use the 'bar' to judge signal quality is not a very accurate way to do it. You should just compare download/upload speed. For example, it better to compare using a speed test program loaded on the tv box and your phone, at the same distance away from the router. Or you move to box from point A to point B and compare speed degradation.

Morning X92 Kakis,
I got two question to ask, on V19.

1) Power ON/OFF - Previously every time I push the ON/OFF button on my airmouse, X92 starting to shut down. I need to switch off and on back the box only I can power ON.

1. You need to understand that there is a program running in the BOOTLOADER even though you have shutdown the device ( with power connected ). This program is forever running and listening to your key switches from the REMOTE.

When your ANDROID system is running, it is the Android OS which will handle the remote AND also the air mouse. I think the magisk installation handles it for you. The supersu app is actual a 'shell'. After a successful installation of magisk, if the app is not removed, you can remove it later.

Directly install the magisk manager.
Then sideload astro go, hide root in magisk.
Wuuuaaaalaaaaa astro go run smooth.

1) So its clear to me now that the box doest not support 5ghz when making it as hotspot/ap.
2) yes i did try comparing the dl/ul speed via ookla with the box by moving the router from its original position (10m away) & closely seated next to box. Resulting too obvious speed degradation. Even the ping rosed up from 20 to 80. Luckily i hv long lan cable to achieve this test hahaha. There i thought with external antenna on this x92 would give better signal than most internally built antenna on other box. I may opt to mod/swap the antenna to better built antenna with atleast 8dbi strength. But just not sure specs of the wifi chip whether it has enuf juice to power up 8dbi. Otherwise it wud b as bad as 3dbi. And funny thing i just found that the antenna cable on x92 is soldered directly to the pcb rather than having ipx/ufl pigtail connector on board (cut cost on el cheapo box by china factory) . I guest i hv to do some desolder/solder to the board

I just got the download link from china supplier for this 20171211 build. But as usual it was hosted on china very owne cloud storage => pan.baidu. how am i suppose to dload file from pan.baidu?

Try it. Booting into twrp or wrong twrp is not dangerous.

At most it will just factory reset. Some idiot recovery will just factory reset if you start it.

What's dangerous is installing wrong thing by using TWRP.

A bit puzzle by the wifi result. I compared my phone wifi vs the x92 wifi. I think they are comparable in speed.

But there are a few other possible factors. Eg the board version number and the Android firmware.

Why don't you just post your baidu link instead of asking people to download but never tell people what is the link ?

I think mine has faulty wifi chip or bad antenna smhow. Degradation is very obvious. Ya possible diff board ver. I hv yet to pop the box lid to found out whats inside again. Also need to chk is it really ap6255 chip mounted. Furthermore i need to remove the top bright x92 logo blue led. But only able to do that in few weeks time. Yup link posted on previous post should u need it.

Wow! Thank you very nice for hosting the files elsewhere. Share with us your findings for the latest firmware. Stable no? Cant wait to explore the nee firmware meself but only able to do so in few weeks time. Haha

Anyway, what is the load temp on your box? I got 72celsius on mine. Not sure whether thats normal or not & is that the regular opreating temp for s912. Hopefully, mine is not a bad batch x92 as i bought it quite (very) cheap. Price just too good too b trru. Seems like few problems here & there...

I bought an MX3 airmouse the other day & works quite ok². It has microphone onboard but only can b used with chrome & google search. The quality is quite ok for the price u pay. It has IR learning function. Other mx3 airmouse is limited to only 5 button for IR learning. While the mx3 i bought, can assign all button onboard for IR learning. So i assign my tv & astro onto it. Hahaha. bought for rm25.75 frm shopee china seller. Even the seller dont even knw that all button can b assign. He oso thought only 5 button.

Got LibreElec working on my box. The configuration is sitting on an external SDCard and does not disturb the internal flash at all.

I can select which to boot from at my preference. Android or LibreElec.

Still checking if kodi in LibreElec is giving higher quality playback ( normally the Kodi websites always highly recommend LibreElec ).

2. Write the image to SDCard using this http://mxqproject.com/files/win32disk/Win3...9.5-install.exe
3. Replace the SDcard original dtb.img with this (depending on memory size )

First time boot IR remote not working, have to use airmouse or mini usb keyboard. Seem to self learn and subsequently IR is working.

Press reset button only needed once. Subsequently boot sticks to SDCard as long as it is inserted.

Display quality wise still checking. Not sure it is better but it is not worse than in Android.

Likely HD audio pass through will be better than Android but I have no hardware to verify.

SDCard quality need to be good or else performance affected when saving config.

Ability to assign all buttons is not a essential feature because of dual mode feature of the buttons, after you assign more than 5 buttons, it is quite difficult to remember which button is for what.

I found out a bad design problem is these airmouse/remote, ie they make all buttons operable in dual mode. Eg so to turn the tv off, got to make sure it is in IR mode. If it is still in wifi mode, keep pressing the button to turn off tv will not work. Similarly, if we put tv box to sleep, we want to make it wake up again, we also have to be in IR mode.

But the airmouse only works in wifi mode.

Having to keep toggling between wifi and IR mode is big hassle.

They should just make a few buttons (eg the color button) permanently in IR mode.

Just press the Magnifying Glass button on remote will activate google voice on the screen, then press and hold the mic button to speak. You can also click on any Mic icon on the screen to use the voice input.

Nothing to configure, just allow voice input when using the first time.

Voice commands are using google voice commands like your phone.

Not all movie in iFlix is HD and no way to set and actually know also.

You can either install it using USB burning tool or SD Card maker.

If you are previously using similar firmware, you can choose don't flash bootloader and don't erase flash. This way you retain most of your previous customization including wifi password and installed apps.

The latest android 7 firmware (20171211) seems ok compare to previous nougat realesed.
However, theres few things i found out bout this box after using for quite smtimes.

- Does any1 notice that "select usb configuration" under developer option always revert back to "charging" irregardless changes been made to it? Whenever i set it to mtp it will b back to charging.

- any1 manage to use LTE usb modem & any1 can use gamepad controller for gaming on this box?
I tried my cliptec game controller (ps2 alike) & huawei e3272 LTE domgle but none works. Not sure what went wrong.

the essential ones are the front (navigation) buttons need to b assigned to works with others in ir learning shud u opt using the airmouse with other ir capable devices which most of people wud. Having all button can b ir learned is another extras & dont b suprised theres some could remember. Nevertheless, if form factors
& still sticking to the stock remote is not an issue, having a fullsized wireless keyboard/mouse is the best. The logitech k400 series wud b a good choice. Currently i dont see any AIOs remote/keyboard/mouse/controller that wud satisfies one needs available in the market at the moment.
Anyway, i wud not recommend buying airmouse that i bought, as few buttons on mine started to "double clicked".

Not really. Navigation button works out of the box in wifi mode. Only if one is using in IR mode, then it requires matching the IR code and hence IR learning.

Using both the stock IR remote with another device which is either a keyboard/mouse or a airmouse is what we want to avoid.

They can solve all these issues by making limited number of buttons always work in IR mode, and the rest of buttons always works in wifi mode.

But this is just for usage on Android TV boxes. It may not be applicable with other devices such as PC/windows/linux. And therefore I supposed that explains why they don't produce airmouse which works like the way I described.

You did not say what error it is but I would suspect it is complaining the devices is jailbreak/rooted.

I have not used this method describe below. But this is what I found in the internet. Maybe worth a try.

Launch SuperSU and go to the “Settings” tab. Don't update. Scroll down until you see “Full unroot”. Tap it.

Once done, SuperSU will close automatically. Restart your Android device.

When your device has booted back up, uninstall SuperSU.

Do it at your own risk. If it does not work, then you need to learn more difficult methods.

by the way, my another problem with this box is I cannot play any movies from netflix... when I push play button, only loading icon appear and nothing more..

Not too worry. Worst case reinstall the ROM. Guarantee to work. Many already done it. Only thing is you must willing to learn things which you have probably never done before.

I have no idea of the cause of these errors.

But nevertheless, in the standard ROM available for x92, almost all of them are pre-rooted. That will DEFINITELY give problem to netflix and AOTG. As mentioned multiple times, one need to make sure he completely remove root or install programs which can hide root from AOTG and netflix.

Also, your problem is not seen in other users, that suggest that you have probably used a different ROM than most others are using.

p/s:

I used to get the media error on a different box running Android 6. After changing to a android 7 ROM, it problem is fixed.

You must do this with the top right usb port, when you put the box with the usb ports facing you.

Okay. This Rom is not so well tested.

Maybe you want flash first with the original x92 mk22 Rom (erase bootliader and flash). Check if it is able to boot.

And then flash again this Rom without erasing flash and bootloader.

Yes, not much difference superficially. The differences are mentioned in the freaktab web page. Main thing maybe for an AstroGo user, the modded Rom has Magisk and Magisk Manager preinstalled. If the Rom creator did it correctly, you only need to configure Magisk Manager to hide AstroGo from seeing the root, then AstroGo will work.

The most affordable air mouse seems to be mx3. Rm30-40.

I wonder if there is a 'best' air mouse, I think most air mouse are too complicated and confusing.

They make buttons switchable between WiFi and IR mode, so it becomes too confusing, as you have constantly keep in mind if you are in IR mode or WiFi mode, as the same button works quite differently in different mode.

They should just make all buttons fixed in WiFi mode and 4 re-learnable buttons in pure IR mode. That is enough to suspend/wake up the tvbox and TV.

Then/ we don't have to keep toggling the mode button.

hi bro already install and it work.. but sometimes the home page and remote doesnt function and always freeze. already do the factory reset on recovery.. still no luck . any thought? Thanks

hi bro i flashed, after that the box restart and stuck at the android animation, and blinking setup on the lcd box. is it normal?

*edit - can i know which rom should i flashed. now im flash back the the x92 3G 171211. but most of the freeze after boot sometimes. Thanks in advance

Did you flashed the modified mk22 rom unchecking the options to erase flash ? Please read back the older posts where someone said he successfully installed the mk22 rom.

@puchongite i already flashed the..so far so good.. but my usb mostly not working. when watch movies always tv when black.. then restart tv hdmi back in up again with the movie all smooth but will happen agaib if i choose other movies. urghh frustrated

Did you flash the modified mk22 Rom or you stay with the so-called original x92 mk22 Rom ?

Tv went black could be due to the software tries to automatic frame rate adjust. The modified Rom has a software which disable frame rate adjust.

Boot up once.

What TV frequency and resolution you used ? Can consider disable using best resolution. Use fixed frequency and resolution instead.

Is there a frame rate app in the system ? Bring it up and disable auto frame rate.

What is connected to the USB ? HDD ?

Also which player you used to play video on USB HDD?

frame rate i dont know about it.. but if u meant the motion frame then i already disable it.

Auto frame rate is a feature in the original x92 mk22 ROM. This feature is not found in other ROMs.

However based on many feedback, the auto frame rate implementation is causing more problem than benefit.

The modded ROM added the capability to disable it without using root to edit files.

@puchongite hi bro..i think accidently uninstall the magisk..now when i install the manager..the magisk is not install. After that i click install select method only have download zip only and patch boot image.

Ive read on the internet i need to go to recovery and install zip file. But i cant get into the recovery with this rom with the reset plug method. 😂

Magisk and Magisk manager are two different things.

Did you uninstall Magisk or uninstall Magisk manager ?

If you uninstall Magisk manager, you can install again. Not much issue.

But if you uninstalled Magisk via Magisk Manager, then you can reinstall the modded ROM (uncheck erase flash and uncheck install bootloader), then magisk will be restored.

Important to uncheck erase flash and uncheck install bootloader !!! Most of your customization are retained.

Of course another way is to install via recovery/TWRP. But that is harder to do it correctly.

Yes, you're right. I actually got the app running without magisk etc.

All I needed was a screen rotating app (set to auto) and a modded apk version of the app. Login with my credentials, and good to go. Had no problem for the pass few days, even during GE14..

Thx to those who guided and gave tips.

Modded apk is a totally different route.

I was saying that in the context of x92 modded mk22 ROM: the system-based root ( su ) and SuperSU apk have been removed and replaced with system-less root ( Magisk and Magisk manager ). In the case of Magisk being removed, then system-less root ( su ) is also removed.

Thus in such case, the AstroGo will run fine with the ORIGINAL UNMODIFIED version. No need to use modified apk.

AstroGo uses very simple method to detect for root/jailbreak. Just make sure you have no programs like 'su', 'Supersu.apk' etc etc sitting anywhere in the file system. If you are unable to perform the search, then it's best you go back to the modded ROM and configure Magisk Manager to block AstroGo from searching for root.

Airmouse. Have only tried one airmouse called MX3. I think they are all abang adek. Not best suitable for Android. But there is no other choice.

Now suddenly i got an error "key chain has stopped" then after few second many error appeared pop up.. already flash back the mod two times now. Still probs.

Guess need to flash from the ori 1st and erase data ..erghhh

Bro, wanna ask.. why my x92 will auto shutdown whenever i switchover to other hdmi? Ie my x92 on hdmi 1, ps4 hdmi 2.. switch for to 2 for awhile then back to hdmi ot went shutdown.. why eh?

Greetings. I have just bought this box. It came with android 7.1.2., (2017.august 1)! its a 32/3 gb box. kernel v3.14.29, build updated to v.2018.05.07. is there any recent, update or this is the latest? if there is, then could you link it for the 3/32 variant pls(read thsat there are 2017.12.x dated droids maybe?) somtimes the screen flickers when restaring the box with the restart option.(not power off and then on, but restart) any options for this to solve? Also i miss the notificatoin bar and the app changer menu,and the new message, email little numbers on app icons. Can you recomend a good launcher for these things to work?thNKS

Guys my X92
I installed the SuperU from google playstore and then I clicked install smtg beside the TWRP when the SuperU asked
Once downloaded it auto reboot the android box is not working anymore
After the booting sound, it shows the black screen with X92
Help!

Just turned on the box and opened updates form menu. It found it on ota... Also I reflashed it with thw firmware uploaded to mega.co and after that it found the build update...


A technical issue: i connected a logitech webcam to the box. Video calling in messenger worked but there was no sound, though it had an inbuilt microphone... Why is that?

its about the su binary issue, u need update it via TWRP. I facing that issue too, AMLogic burning tool always the magic helper

There is a way to install nova launcher mentioned in the 4pda forum as it involves patching some libraries into the system.
You would have to search it and you can ask for help there.

I am using lighthome. This is preinstalled.

You can go to settings->apps-> the rkm launcher app to clear the default. The other preinstalled launchers become available when you press home.

There is a program called 'automatic framerate configuration' or something alike. It's a simple GUI. Just configure, it takes effect immediately. No reboot needed.

Oh well, didn't like a7, and it couldn't detect any of my usb pendrives. So I revert to a6 via sdcard+toothpick method.

Got the stock X92 splash screen, and also the stock layout launcher (big google play button on the left side).. but, when i checked at about, the firmware retained android 7.1.2? Weird.. all the menu setting style is as per a7..

Now, the thing is.. i lost the top status bar and the bottom navigation bar. Any ideas?

Anyone here ever try to use PC-USB method to upgrade x92? Working?

It seems like my laptop (Win 10) and PC (Win XP) can't even detect x92.

Which USB port on X92 is used to connect the box to PC? It shld be the port on Top Right. But, I tried all 4 ports, none is working.

Need to press down the reset button? I tried too. Not detected.

Need to connect to power cord? Tried too. Not working too.

Could it be USB cable problem?

The reason why I use PC-USB to update the firmware is sdcard method fails.
I have tried the files (Samde V19 by @syumul, stock 20171211 by @stasio and mk22 by @puchongite; Tqvm, guys) provided above using sdcard method.
Only Samde v19 succeeded. Others fail.😭😭😭😭

Pls help me.

I assume u're trying to flash using the burning tool via pc, correct? All u need are..
1. X92 unit only, no need the power adapter
2. A toothpick to press the reset button
3. A male-male usb cable
4. The firmware image file u want to flash
5. The usb burning tool program

Steps I did..
1. Run the burning tool on pc. Change to english language.
2. Took the toothpick and pressed the reset button in the X92 unit, and while pressing it I connected the unit to pc with the male-male usb cable (use the top right usb slot).
* I have never connected the X92 to pc before this, so the first time it connected to pc (with the reset button pressed with a toothpick), windows detected and installed new drivers. Once installed correctly, the burning tool will successfully detect ur X92 unit.
3. Selected the image file, then clicked on Start, and let it finish.
4. Once completed, I clicked on Stop and then closed the burning tool.
5. Disconnect the X92 from the pc, then turned the X92 on, and wait for it to completely boot and load the home screen.

I guess so.

My steps are as follow:-

1) Download and install Driver files and USB Burning tool from here. The USB Burning tool is standalone version, no need to install, but driver files need to be installed.

2) Connect the box to PC via Top Right usb port with a new Type A-A cable, press reset button and power cord plugged in. Suddenly, I just here my laptop detects the box.

3) Then, flashed the image file and done.

Edit: I can confirm that the power cord needs to be plugged in in order to get detected. And only the Top Right usb port is working.

Hi guys just got my x92 3gb. Works fine but I've a few questions if you don't mind.

1) Is there any way to access android notification? Tried swiping from top to bottom and nothing happens (in nova launcher).
2) How do I access recent apps, I'm using mx3 air keyboard btw. The recent apps button doesn't seem to work. Do I need to reprogram it somehow?

Yes, it's Android 7.1.2. I've searched online and I think they disabled the notification bar by default. For question no 2, I solved it by using Button Mapper app from playstore biggrin.gif

Hi guys. Been 1year using my x92 & finally it went kaput today. I think my x92 bricked. The unit does not boot at all except the top blue x92 logo lit up & nothing came up at the front unit display. So just want to confirm with u guys does my unit really bricked or is it hardware faulty?
Could sm1 pls provide a stock firmware download link so dat i could flash the stock via usb frm pc. I think d Android7 (20171211) provided in this thread only meant for SD card only right? Or can it b used with pc via ysb cable flashing method as well? Im sorry if u guys cud guide me as well for flashing from PC via usb cable method. im sorry bcos i am quite newbie with android box & the only time i did & managed to flash stock firmware A6 to A7 was using SD card with A7 (20171211) firmware provided by stasio in this thread. So basically i hv no idea at all how to flash frm pc via usb cable & i dont knw where to obtain the stock firmware fir said method.

Thanks stasio. U hv been assiting alot in lowyat & freaktab. Managed & succeded flashing d firmware via usb cable method but still d box doesnt boot after. Turned out d power adapter is d culprit & i ve noticed intermittent flickering of the top x92 blue logo. D only way to power up d box is using d same exact usb cable method to flash d firmware, except d other end plug into my samsung (2.0A) handphone charger. Hv to stay dat way at d moment & still waiting for new adapter ordered from shopee to arrived.

Side notes:
i ve noticed theres buzzing & electrical burnt smells coming off d adapter. So at d moment safe to say dat d adapter is faulty. Yet to b confirmed once d replacement adapter reached me. Im hoping dat d power circuit chip on d pcb itself not burnt.

Confirmed that the power adapter the culprit. Oredi replaced with new adapter. Now my box up & running. Tengs stasio for assisting

morning guys. which build of android 6 dat is most stable? currently wt android 7 but thought of downgrade to android 6. i prefer to hv d bottom navigation bar & top notification panel. or if theres such panel & bar in android 7 build, pls let me knw as well. ii hv read in 4pda. theres a systemUI file which u hv to replace wt d 1 in android 7 stock firmware. and supposesly u will get like 7 button bottom navbar & top notification panel. but sadly d link for d systemUI file posted in 4pda is not working (error 404) or d file no longer exist. btw thanks guys!

What do you mean by wireless update ? Update Rom over wireless (WiFi ) or update the wireless driver in the rom ?

What is the error ? In any case, there is no value in latest version of play store. Newer playstore mostly make it stronger and stronger in security checking and safteynet enforcement.

after the latest ota update, the version of the playstore is 7.x.x. And it does not update automatically to the latest version. If i download the play apk from apkmirror, it says package error while installing, and quits

There are many reasons why play store ( com.vending.android ) cannot be updated due to only superficial information has been given.

1. Could be the pre-installed play store has been modified in the first place. Because it carries different signature than original Google signatures therefore it cannot be updated.

2. Could be the apk you downloaded is the wrong architecture, and therefore cannot be updated.

You can install 'apk analyser' if you want to get to the bottom. Check the signature.

In any case, there is really no value to update to the latest play store version, as updated play store will enforce stricter security requirement which inhibit you to download and install certain apk and disallow you to have root.

So my suggestion is that you just ignore this "problem".

Its just odd it wont update , and nowadays google play often shows error messages , like google play has stopped working, do y you eant to close it or restart it... i dont know why. the apks i have downloaded were the good architecture. though it is rooted i cant uninstall the old play app.

You have to download 'apk analyser' to find out the actual signature of the Google play store installed. I think most likely that your ROM the play store apk is a modified one, it is not the original play store apk from Google.

I noticed that the 5GHz WiFi is very sensitive to the orientation of the antenna but not the 2.4 GHz. By shifting the orientation of the antenna, I got 50-60 Mbps, good enough for a stable streaming experience. So I scrap my idea of buying a WiFi repeater.

I have dumped the stock firmware since after a short while of having the box. I myself have certain level of ROM creation capability, and my ROM is actually self-modified based on the Rikomagic ROM for x92. I used it because it is 64 bit Android. All others that I found are actually 32 bit ( including the stock ).

Nevertheless x92 wifi chip driver ( AP6225 ) is closed source, ie nobody has the source code of the wifi chips, we only have the binary. Apparently this wifi chip is used by many other TVBOXes.

As mentioned, this chipset is able to do both 2.4GHz amnd 5GHz on the spec. I have not actually quite used the 5GHz previously, mainly because could not get high signal strength from it ( was only like 2 bars ). But it is only recently that I found that I orientate the antenna slightly differently, I could get 3 bars and sometimes higher.

Wifi on 2.4 GHz in the place I stay is too congested already, a lot of interference. So after changing over to a 3bar (sometimes full 4 bars ) signal 5Ghz, I could achieve much higher ( 50-80 mbps ) and much stable throughput compared to doing it on a full 4 bars signal on 2.4Ghz.

So bottomline I don't really know if the stock ROM is able to do 5GHz or not.

If you are brave enough, you can try to modify the wifi driver by updating the driver file ( dhd.ko ) via TWRP. But you can't use my file because my file is for 64 bit kernel.

p/s: Just checked, stock x92 kernel is also 64 bit, maybe only the Android zygote is 32 bit.

Hi guys.

My Youtube app (I think its the Youtube TV app) stopped working suddenly. It can load up by it does not play any video at all. It used to work but ever since I update the pre-installed Youtube app a month ago, it hanged with the circle-thingy in the middle. Any idea?

Here are my X92 specs..perhaps I need to update the firmware? If so, any of you can assist me on how to update to the most stable firmware (newbie here)?

Get the Smart Youtube TV app instead. At the main splash screen, u can click the back button and select which settings is ideal for your box. I put mine either at 1080 or 1080 lite, since my tv isn't 4k thus useless to use the 4k settings.

May i know how to unroot X92, i suspect because it is rooted then i cannot watch the unifi tv.

From SuperSU app, choose full unroot.

Becareful NOT to update SuperSU when prompted to.

This is an old box. My question is you inherited it recently ? Or you installed a new ROM ?

You can install terminal app and then run it, and then type 'su'. To see if there is root or it is false detection by the root detect app.

It shows I do not have root access. May be is false detection by root detect app. Anyway can resolve this?

Anybody still using this box? Im still using this box...5 years already...still in good working condition..put coiling fan and it running without any problem..
