ar!!! i hate Vista but most of the new goodies are only cabpable to work on Vista ...

Not like Vista is cheap and stable, up to so far there's many application incompatibility and lack of drivers.

its the way to recognize the existence next gen cards and also the DX10 games, which is not bad I think, as of 2007, no more new DX9 cards will be released, while to test out those like 7950GX, 3dmark06 is more than enough.
For DX10 to be vista exclusive though, its M$ conspiracy whistling.gif

I wonder how many people would be able to run 3DMark07 as it is only programmed for Vista and DX10 cards.

Most people would probably have one or the other only. Especially true for Vista, where people are probably holding back from using Vista until the bugs are corrected and more Vista programs comes out......

3DMark07 should be made compatibility to both XP and Vista, why concentrate to Vista only ... Theres still a lot people prefer XP than Vista, but dont know in US, maybe there all change to VISTA, death to XP ... doh.gif

I think a lot of people just don't realize how dx10 is really closely tied to vista. They changed the entire driver model with vista, and dx10 needs this new driver model to run. It's practically impossible to hack it into windows xp because this change is at a low level.

And 3Dmark is made for predicting the performance of gfx cards in future games/apps, not current or last generation ones. So why would they bother with backwards compatibility? Future games will be dx10, as will all new gfx cards.

Yes, It is for Vista and DirectX10. No looking back buddy,
However there is still 3DMark 06 for DirectX 9 cards' users, hey you can still use this on Windows XP.
