The +4 is not the size of the close-up filter but the close-up factor of the filter. The size is govern by the diameter of the filter, ie. 52mm, 55mm, 67mm, etc.
I asked before a 55mm +4 Hoya Close-up filter during a business trip in Singapore and was quoted SGD15, IIRC. |

I think too high magnification will have a very hard time controlling the DOF. Razor thin one some more.
