I've read trough all 11 pages of your comments and feedbacks on life working at the cold cold place genting highlands.
Well let me tell you about my life experience working there..
Being a college student, during my semester break, I went to Genting and randomly applied for some job but later on was offered working at Front Desk at first world. To me, working at Genting is full of adventure and fun! In fact I miss working there. I just love the working environment =D.. the coldzy breeze breezing me at night / during the day.. ohhh I just love it so very much. Besides that, I love to sit down at star bucks/coffee bean or simply just walking around watching loving family, couples goes by..
I just love the quiet nights ^-^ ..
I was ffk by a friend who was supposed to join me working at Genting.. but well, I managed to make new friends over there from my work place and also my room mates.
The place where I stayed was at first world hotel itself. Though it’s the cheapest room you can find at first world hotel, it is not that bad though =)) .. about 2 – 4 people to a room. Depends.
And speaking about adventure, I had senior friends who actually try to sneak me in the casino. We all in fact tried to sneak in the casino but the entire attempt failed (not!)
Working environment is good too where you won’t be fix working at one station only. It’s always changing. You’ll be posted at check in counter/ tour counter/information counter/kiosk counter/ etc. and speaking about information counter, some mother with kids will come up to you asking weird question you may never know how to answer. Lol.. Or some may even come up to you asking where is first world when they are actually at first world *sweet drops*.
Speaking about food, it’s quite reasonable. RM3.50 for a plate of chicken (drumstick) rice =) and food are below RM5. .. And ohh btw, I was working back in year 2006. Also, working during school holidays/ public holidays, your pay will be double or triple up. My pay was like 1800k (not that bad eh?).
Overall I love working there. Your off days are usually 4 days in a roll, your work shift starts at 7am, 11am, 2pm, 7pm(can’t really remember), thus, it can help you save $ (as in really save big time!) . Heard that after 6 years working, you’ll be promoted to manager post. First world hotel itself has close to 200 staff.
if there’s one word to describe my life working at Genting, I would say AWESOME !
Ps/ all thanks to that ffk friend that introduce me to work there
