thanks eLL_lAzyPiG, so u mean last time u straight went to GH HR there, then after interview straight get the job? hows the environment there? is it very cold? how do you keep your valueable items?

i contact the GH HR, they ask me to go interview at GH on saturday, they say no need go to wisma genting on wednesday?? anyway, i going to fly tomoro, hope that everything goes smoothly! |

i work in Genting for a month already, so far so good~ depends to individual actually, some might feel bored depends on their position~ for those who are interested just go to Resort Hotel for walk in interview every saturday~ bring along photocopied IC, secondary school leaving cert, SPM, and STPM/diploma if available~ and a few passport size photos too~ GSA and croupier has better salary~ the most important things to get croupier is no sweaty palms and no colour blind, as long as no this 2 problems mostly can get the job although qualification not high~ and no tattoo too! for GSA, STPM or diploma is required to get the job, unless got close relative who work as executive in genting~ for students who want to work during semester break, recommended to apply for croupier, no contract bound and may resign whenever their break over as long as earlier notice, and if interested to do partime during studies they are allow to work every friday till sunday too and transport is provided~ the nice thing work in Genting is that accomodation and food is provided, depends on position too~ hope my tips helps~

GSA is Guest Service Assistant, their main role is to help customers to sign up the Genting WorldCard~ it is very common that new staffs come and old staffs leave everyday since the staffs here is around 20k~ if you prefer admin job then you may try apply to work in HR or Deployment department~ here they offer many different kinds of vacancy, ranging from theme park to hotel to casino, also for outlets such as Giordano, Padini etc, and their Arena Of Star, restaurants, security guards, firemen, cleaners etc~ and also IT department~ but as i know only GSA and croupier has better salary if not mistaken, not so sure about other positions~ there is many carparks here, so shouldnt be any problem for you to park your motorcycle~

actually i unable to give a 100% accurate answer~ depends your roomate is what kind of person, so far rarely happen stolen case~ but that doesnt mean it wouldnt happen, just keep the important stuff like laptop in the locker, the locker is safe enough! ^0^ i personally suggest to bring laptop if not would be very bored up here~ if i didnt bring my laptop then i wouldnt have the chance to share my experience with u guys now~ but broadband internet hardly reach 3g here~

actually it is possible to transfer to another department if u feel there is another job that u prefer more, but its quite troublesome and need your manager's approval too~ croupier can earn roughly 2000 per month~ the most important rule to follow when work here is never late to work, then everything would be fine~
Added on April 18, 2011, 11:29 pmactually u are allow to bring anything, u can apply streamyx too, but i heard have to always call to tmpoint to urge them if not have to wait quite long~ some staff even have lcd tv and refrigerator in their room~ but not allow to install antenna, but there is a hole on the wall, just connect the port for antenna to the hole then can watch already~ Added on April 18, 2011, 11:35 pmup here u can see iphone everywhere, its just like kancil on the road~ haha~ most ppl here spend money to buy nice phone, due to they spend most of their time with their phone here~ at here leisure time can play bowling, archery, karaoke, clubbing (although the songs are very outdated), gym, basketball, badminton and movie~ ppl here also spend quite a lot on food too~ actually the life here is quite bored if didnt go hang around in downtown kl~ luckily company often organize free trips for staffs, mostly go to islands like langkawi, pangkor, redang, penang~ This post has been edited by blackbird964: Apr 18 2011, 11:35 PM |

those at hotels are called FOA Front Office Assistant~ yup, just bring your photocopied spm/stpm result, birth cert, school leaving cert, etc~ all vacancy interview on every saturday~

Currently there are many vacancies for GSA, so those who are interested may apply now. The basic salary after deduct EPF and Socso is RM1,64x, plus OT can easily get more than 2,000 per month. 1hour OT is rm13.3 and allow to maximum OT till 4 hours, means 1 day u can earn 50++ if u r hardworking enough, plus public holiday here is triple pay.
Staff benefits are different among departments and positions, for Assistant Manager and above, they are given a card contain rm1000 every month just for meals at outlet in GH, and their hostels is so good that probably better than most of our home (unless you are from a rich family), they also have their own designated carpark too. For normal staffs, since Finance Department is consider under Casino Division if not mistaken, they are provided lunch everyday. Working hour is 9am to 5pm if not mistaken, working days is 1 time 4 - 5 days a month, not 4 times 1 day a week, and all staffs use skyway for free. Family may visit and stay overnight once u apply for it. There are increment each year, vary for different department and position. Not really a good idea for you to go home everyday if u work here. very sorry i wrote wrongly, its offdays 4-5 days per month not working days~ indeed, working here we sacrifice freedom and time to spend with family, thats one of the reasons staffs here resign after work a few years~ and there really exist politic issue here, but i think other places also like that, so try to make some own friends here, dont easily trust ppl until known each other for a period of time~ sorry now i didnt have the sample of accomodation, standard unit of first world if very terrible and mostly are for foreign workers such as china and philipine workers~ for normal staffs, depend their luck which block of hostel they get, some are nice and some are terrible~ i not sure how much the exact amount in the their card, roughly a bit more than 1000 i think, cant buy grocery, outlet means restaurants in GH, there are staff canteen that outsiders cant access that we can have a meal around rm5, the restaurants outside are very expensive, KFC and McD are consider cheap up here although is more expensive than other outlet at downtown~ a very real truth is the HR of GH is very terible too,

i heard that degree fresh graduate can apply Assistant Manager~ just walk in interview at resort hotel, available every saturday~ i work as GSA, work here of course know AM, since we all work together~

if u are staying in peninsular malaysia, try not to bring those stuff at the 1st month~ until u are familiar with your room condition and roomates then u bring~ the basic is rm1855, wanna earn extra then do OT~ i heard china workers come here through agent, the increment is once per year~

i never heard about the training and not allow to leave for 3 months, but i dont think that exist because they are not allow to tie people, even the local staff are not tie to contract too, unless temporary staffs~ i not sure your senior exec refers to which position, if supervisor then is just same as normal staffs~ its true that in casino theres a lot of China and Philipine staffs, but i dont think genting deal with those matter~ maybe they do but i cant give you an accurate answer for the moment~ you may try to apply in this september, i guess you would be able to pass if you do well in the interview~ althought your height is a little disadvantage~

staff get 50% discount for theme park~ 4th june didnt have walk in interview due to public holiday, your friend can always come up to interview on saturday except public holiday~ AM job functions are different depends on which department they work in, will not less than 3k

SLSJ, u now start work in GHR? work as GSA? It is very true that when work in GHR must keep their record as good as possible if they want to come back to work again in future, best to avoid absent and even lateness bcoz GHR is very very particular in this. Good news for those who wish to apply for GSA, there are a lot of vacancy for GSA now. What I can say is GSA promise at least 2500 per month after + OT and - EPF & SOCSO
