After few weeks in "dead" state (no Internet, no Wifi, no response), I turned it on again to claim new router from TM. Suddenly it's healthy again!

As I've already put another router in its place, it's now destined as first floor AP (family area & daughter's room) to replace a D-Link DIR-850L. Pray the best for its second life.

Now that weird, cause I don't see any of upper 5G channels at dropdown on EU firmware.....you sure it isn't caused by browser cache?
*
Definitely not, as I said, the rom is abit iffy, it doesn't happen often and it might only show up during the first wifi setup.

If you mean watch HyppTV from that box, not possible with C1200. Only D-Link routers or Powerline will do.

I flashed my C1200 provided by TM to US firmware, 5G is getting stronger (22.5dBm vs EU 16dBm), txbf available and more channels are available (36/40/44/48/149/153/157/161), downside is 2.4G seems getting worst, if anyone planned to use 5G only its a good move to flash US firmware. Btw I did change the power adapter to 12v/3a due to original adapter(12v/1a) seems struggle after flashing to US, US version uses 12v/2a vs EU version 12v/1a

Ps. I can see 802.11k with wifianalyzer on Android after flashing to US firmware, not sure if it’s working or what, didn’t check properly

The 802.11k on this unit confirmed works, next thing I wanna do is get 2 more units of this and connect them with LAN cable since it so cheap in 2nd hand, about RM100 can get. So that with RM200 I can have 3 APs with roaming features, each AP I can runs about 480mbps with my XS Max, killer C/P rate

Are you using US version dated 280118?

Do you encounter random reboot?

So far no, maybe I use it as AP not router, and maybe due to I changed the power adapter to higher grade to match the higher txpower output , US version original come with 12v/2a vs MY version 12v/1a

Sorry what i mean are you using this US firmware version
Archer C1200(US)_V1_180123 to be able to get more channels.

Can you check whether the US version has the hidden WDS function which is available in the EU version?

I'm also curious to know if your TM 'reflashed' router is generating more heat with a higher 3A power adapter. Or whether the lifespan of the router will be shorten by using higher amp adapter.

Yes I’m using 180123 firmware, how to check the WDS?
As for power adaptor, it’s totally safe to use higher Amp as long as the voltage is same, the device will only draw as much power as it needs, it’s more like 3A = “up to 3A” and 1A =“up to 1A”. But voltage is the one we need to be careful, higher voltage will burn ur device

To check WDS usability, just follow our TS advice as above.

Thanks for clarifying on the power adapter. Btw where did you get the 3A type?

I'm currently using the EU version with WDS function and connected to my main router because i unable to link with ethernet cable where the router is located. G

I have c5v2 router, can I flash C1200 v2 firmware?

I wanted the VPN server function that C1200 has it.

Sifus, UNIFI has upgraded my WIFI modem to D-link 842 (AC1200 as well). Now I have a spare TP-LINK AC1200. How can I utilize my TP-Link Router? as I dun see the repeater option. Thanks.

Invalid question. TM TP-Link C1200 version = EU hardware V1.
You should ask which one is better, EU edition or MY (TM UNIFI or TIME variant) edition.

Between EU firmware and MY firmwares --->Pick your poison.

Guys, after setup for 2.4G WDS bridging. Then I continue with 5G WDS bridging. Then after Save the 5G WDS became disable? Does it means we can only setup once? To choose either 2.4G or 5G?
