Flash to Edit7 firmware for AP mode. It works well. Connect by lan to an Asus RT86U as base router.

Really can see the difference between Asus and Tplink

Not planning to use WDS coz I wired my house with Cat6 cable every room. Also using WDS what I read is that it takes up additional WiFi bandwidth vs AP connected by LAN

my Unifi got bumped to 500Mbps from 50Mbps
TM already changed the BTU to support the turbo speed
I'm using Archer C1200 temporary to test & experience the turbo speed before i decide to downgrade the 100Mbps or to buy a new high end router

The Archer C1200 is a TM unit (have TM logo on it). Are we allowed to upgrade to the latest firmware?

I've been reading this thread and noticed the rebooting issues
So, far my router has been up since Friday 30th Nov night & has not rebooted by itself since

Below is the fw & hw version of the router
FW 1.0.0 Build 20161115 rel.42795 (EU)
HW Archer C1200 v1.0

I noticed there is no "@unifi" SSID
Channel for 2.4GHz 1 - 13 only
Connection Mode is set to AUTO

is it advisable to flash the firmware to other version?
FYI, i already tried to flash to C1200v1_eu_tm-up-1.0.0 Build 20180403 rel.22124_2018-04-03_14.13.08.rar
downloaded from Malaysia TP Link website & using wired connection, but after rebooting, nothing happens & the fw version stay the same

I have been using the following f/w for a few months now. No problems and it remains connected for weeks...

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/download/Archer-...1.html#Firmware
Archer C1200(EU)_V1_180124

With a wired connection, it can handle 500Mbps easily.
On 5ghz Wifi, it can do about 300+Mbps

Just got my WDS working on 5G by following the guide here, thanks a lot! Is there any way to enable both 2.4G and 5G WDS with the EU firmware?

You can't. Only can enable one at a time.

A follow up question on WDS. My PC is connected to the 2nd router's (TP-Link AC1200 from TM as repeater) 5Ghz connection, but from time to time I would find the wifi status showing "No Internet Access". When that happens I found the PC is being assigned a random IP address (i.e. 169.x.x.x.) rather than the normal internal subnet range (192.168.1.x) which should be assigned by the main router, as the 2nd router's DHCP is set to off. A reboot of the router would solve the problem and my PC would be given the correct IP Address.

What could be the reason and what have I missed from the WDS configuration?

How you set up wds connection from tp link to your main router? Are you using 2.4Ghz wifi as the back bone for connection?

Is your 5GHz ssid similar with your main router 5GHz ssid? And what model is your main router?

I followed the WDS setup guide provided here at page29/30, the only part I didn't perform is the modified config.bin so the channel is assigned automatically but seems to stay on channel 36 so far, I've also fixed my main router to channel 36 for 5Ghz. Using 5Ghz from the main router as backbone, main router is (TP-Link Archer C5v ac1200 router) provided by Maxis.

Just to share my thought of 2 firmware version test today....

I had downgraded to 1.0.0 Build 20180208 rel.57928 (EU) is the stablest so far, the original 20180403 rel.22124 that came with it will have ping lost for no reason no logs every 30 or 1 min....

Hmm.... during your set up WDS, when you click on the 'survey' button what is the signal strength of your chosen wifi? (If its too weak, try WDS using 2.4GHz instead as the backbone)

Make sure your security mode and password is correct before saving. For me, i find that by disabling the TX Beamforming gives me a more stable connection. Try it too.

Lastly in your PC, try disconnect from your 5g ssid and reconnect again (making sure it is connected to your wds tplink router wifi signal)

Good luck and see if the signal is stable now.

Update : Make sure your main router wifi signal you are connecting to as backbone for WDS has the channel and channel width fixed and not on auto. For the info, I'm using firmware version 1.1.3 build 20180124 rel. 52299 (EU)

Hi,

Router: TPLink Archer C1200 v1.0

Any one manage to install OpenWRT on to this Router. Would like to install this and add OPENVPN client on this to support a few device on the network.

I tried this file on the upgrade and it does not work.

openwrt-18.06.1-ar71xx-generic-archer-c5-v1-squashfs-factory.bin

Appreciate any suggestion.
