QUOTE(Aspick @ Aug 30 2018, 08:46 PM) Can you teach me how to have the wds bridging function? I want to bridge tplink c1200 to my main router asus rt-ac66u But the feedback from few users said only EU firmware has hidden WDS functionality. If you are using Malaysian firmware, you are outta luck.

My c1200 v1 already flashed to EU firmware earlier this year and was using it for sometime with much less reboot. Recently i got hold of an asus rt ac66u to be used as my main router on ground floor, so instead of putting the c1200 into the store room I thought might as well make use of it to provide better wifi signal on first floor using the wds function. I googled that both routers use broadcom chips so wds should work.

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Aug 30 2018, 10:16 PM) ....sigh...CTRL + F to search Here is video wds.mkvThank you very much @JohnLai I've successfully created 5GHz WDS linking c1200 to my main router. I've then set up 2.4GHz SSID similar to my main router. Now my upstairs has full wifi coverage.

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Jul 10 2018, 12:46 AM) Oh crap, I think I better rephrase it. My mistake. I shouldn't call it as wireless repeater. There is no WDS mode (wireless bridging). There is only AP mode via LAN cable. I was saying connecting via LAN cable between two routers and use the AP mode to extend wireless coverage. EDIT: But...playing around with the firmware seem to indicate WDS is hidden and might work......... I wonder if it will work? Problem is = I don't have spare router to test..... Should I use 2.4ghz or 5ghz for the wds?

QUOTE(prokiller1199 @ Sep 3 2018, 05:07 PM) Should I use 2.4ghz or 5ghz for the wds? Stick with 5Ghz if the signal is strong enough. After all = 867Mbps (AC) vs 300Mbps (N), not that hard to make a choice.

Skip TIME's and just flash EU fw and be done with it... Yes, it'll still work with Unifi, just you have to manually configure it yourself after flashing.. Careful though, some FW once flashed, can't reflash Unifi FW. Search back previous posts for recommended FWs. This post has been edited by voncrane: Sep 15 2018, 09:20 PM

The latest stable version of EU firmware is 1.1.3 Build 20180124 rel.52299 (EU). Firmware update normally takes 5 minutes total. For the WDS part, TP-Link web interface will display 'no internet' status, however the wireless repeater function work just fine with client device at receiving end can online normally. Note, NTP also doesn't work in WDS mode. Can't do much due to incomplete WDS functionality. It is 'hidden' for a reason.
