Hi all,

I recently got an offer for the role of proprietary day trader (PDT) trading Bursa listed equities. However, I'm having second thoughts about accepting it.
I was hoping if anyone has some knowledge about this role and would be willing to share as I have no prior experience with trading.

Some info about the role I was offered:

2.5k basic + commission (about 10-30% at the beginning), commission and capital allocated for trading will be adjusted based on performance.
Contract based for the first 2 years, performance review every 6 months (will be let go if performance is bad, however if bad performance but boss thinks there's potential, extended for another 6 months).

From what I've gathered so far, there will be minimal chance for career progression. Just increase in capital and commission.

What do you guys think?

minimal career progression if you just stayed as PDT all your life.

but you can make super huge money if you are really good.

if you like it you can go ahead and try?

I'm sure you will have a target to hit.

As far as I know, it is extremely difficult to become a good trader. By any chance, do you know how much an average prop trader makes a month?

With your finance degree, get a proper job with steady career progression. Never never never go into such jobs where you will be shown exit door if u perform poorly. U just started your career and early termination will look very bad on your resume.

Yes, basically you're borrowing their money to invest. If you make profits you get to keep some of it, if you make a loss you bear all of it. Sounds like a good deal right? For them.

don't think it is a PDT position
PDT requires at least 5 years trading experince in this industry
and currently less than 55 PDT lisece issued by Bursa Malaysia

your position shall be IVT it is investment Tranier only

mostly AffinHwang or Kenaga IB will hire IVT for daytrading activities

and i look at the above offer.....you shall be under the house team since only 10-30% sharing profit which is very low in this industry
but you may need not deposit any amount to the IB as a security deposit

by the way, the successful rate for this industry is less than 7-8%

long time ago day trading only allow for the Stockist (now called PDT)

proprietary day trader (PDT) who have the right to short the stock without intraday short selling (IDSS)

IVT stand for Investment Trainers (or called proprietary trader) they only can short with intraday short selling (IDSS)

proprietary day trader (PDT) lisence issued by Bursa Malaysia at least 5 years related experiences, only limit to 5 PDTs per PO, so far only avaliable with AffinHwang IB, Kenaga IB, TA Securities, RHBIB, AMIB, HLIB, Inter Pacific, etc

IVT stand for Investment Trainers (or called proprietary trader) are salary dealer who trade with company investment account, mostly with the team

Are you a prop trader?

Just trade (forex) for a part-time and realise that my capital not big enough for making a comfortable living. Just keeping my trading record (aiming 20-25% a year) for now, maybe one day I can trade for a real investor but I don't know the step by step to go that far. Any tips?

I know how to trade stock also, but don't know how to keep the record. If forex got myfxbook, for bursa what do you recommend for me for tracking my record to show to the investor somehow later in the future.
