My Panasonic Air-con is only 1 yr.+. But these few months it was acting weird. About 4 hrs after U turned it on, some sort of "hitting sound" will come out. My air-con technician told me that because the top of my closet was too near my air-con, that's why condensation occurred on the fan after operating for a few hrs. Is it true? He asked me to turn it on in medium level or high level to avoid such problem. But sometimes even with medium level on, the same problem occurred. The sound was really loud and woke me up at night. Anyone got advise for me? Thanks!

What do you mean by hitting sound?
Water dripping sound, or some hard object hitting on another object?

QUOTE(mm004 @ Jan 9 2018, 07:46 PM) some hard object hitting on another object! What you can test, try afternoon switch on for > 4 hours, see if it happen. If don't have maybe the sound come from roof. (if using metal truss sometime will have knocking sound)

(if using metal truss sometime will have knocking sound) Everytime, if turn on more than 4 hrs, the hitting sound came back. I'm living in apartment, so the sound is not from roof, definitely from the air-con unit itself.

Condensation will not create sound, it creates water only. You can try to tighten the aircond cover, or change the fan speed once the knocking sound come.

Every time this hitting sound occurred, I tried to change the fan speed, but the sound still continued!

QUOTE(mm004 @ Jan 10 2018, 02:39 PM) Means it is nothing to do with the air speed. Better get an authorized technician to check it out.

Yeah cannot imaging how it got sound. Better call Panasonic to complaints and they will come. I complain before to Panasonic (via retail shop) for their ceiling fan and also gas losses inverter and they came (different occasions) and the fan they fix it free, while ac they spot the problem tell me where is it and I coordinate the fix with my installer also free.

QUOTE(weikee @ Jan 10 2018, 09:00 PM) if got oil how to ensure the oil can return back to the compressor so the compressor won't wear out due to lack of lubrication? so far i never hear people talk about copper pipe requiring slope on the outlet like drain pipes do.

How fast is the noise? Could it be electrical arc noise?
