Like most people here on this forum, I oppose BN rule if only because it is a good principle to switch out ruling parties every once in a while. However I already know who the candidate for my area will be for GE14. The area is currently under DAP and MCA will be contesting it. This candidate has personally helped me a lot over the past year, in particular in dealing with a particular branch of government. I didn't ask for the help and the person freely offered the assistance to me and some others in the same situation as myself because he said that we were the victims of an injustice. His assistance has really made a big difference. Through him, I have also gained a few new contacts in MCA and, holy shit, do they have a lot of bad things to say about DAP.

Anyway he will never know whether or not I actually vote for him and I doubt my vote will make a difference anyway. So it's really a personal ethical dilemma. I would feel bad if I smiled at him, shook his hand and accepted his help but then voted for DAP anyway. What would you do in my place? Am I a macai now if I vote MCA?

MCA has taken Malaysian for a ride for took long!!!!
Chinese zodiac now missing dog and pig also no noise from them?!?!
So it is pay back time!
Please continue to shake his hand, accepted his help and money but then voted for DAP anyway!

MCA's argument, conveyed to me directly, is that there is zero chance of BN actually losing control of the Federal Government in GE14. If UMNO is threatened, they will just ally with PAS and PAS certainly will be more willing to have a BN government than a PH government. Since PH can't win power, then it is better to vote MCA to have influence in government.

So tell me, do you think that PH can win control of the Federal Government is a three-way fight with BN and PAS?

That's why it's not wrong to believe that people that still voting for MCA are those who have personal gains that benefits personally only.

I think it's an interesting question anyway. Do you vote for a candidate just because of the party without knowing anything about that person in particular? When voting, do you prioritize the national stage or whether or not a candidate can help you in your local area?

I don't think this is true. The person in question currently holds internal MCA posts but is not a government servant and does not hold any government posts. I don't think he gets any money from MCA currently. His entire motivation is to raise his public profile so that he can be a successful candidate for MP.

But we always say that politicians are deceitful and dishonest. Does this justify ordinary people behaving just like them?

What kind of influence MCA has?

Unless you’re talking about business influence in getting gomen contract then yeah la, that is what most businessmen I know do.

Else I don’t see MCA having any influence at all.

I think in general on big, important controversial issues, yes, MCA has little influence. But on a local level, depending on who is running the place, I think the situation may be different. Also, I would not be too casual about dismissing MCA just because they are in the background and we take it for granted that they are always there. If, for for example, MCA were to quit BN, do you think TAR college and university would still be allowed to continue operating?

Why are you asking this shill infested forum?
Have your own opinion instead of being a sheep.

I started this thread in Serious Kopitiam but it seems that one of the mods rather mischievously moved it here.

In fact, I think I will close it now. It wasn't my intention to invite non serious replies and I think it's unfair of the mods to quietly move the thread like this.
