I've encountered random hangs during really really graphic intensive scenes (and it resumes again after the 'momentary hang' like you described as well) but my 7600GT was overclocked @ 650/1550. GPU maxes out at about 70°C and idles at around 44-46°C?. No such hangs at slightly lower speeds though.

I reckon it's your I-Cute PSU...
