I'm a Malaysian currently working in the UK. I am looking to secure a loan for a condo back home (currently under construction - due completion in 2020).

I wonder if you all could advise me on how securing a loan would work in my circumstance, and suggestions on particular banks. With regards credit scores, I don't hold any loans/credit cards in Malaysia.

It's not a problem if you are still Malaysian. Just submit your details to the bank.

Only issue is that the bank might take a conservative exchange rate to deal with the potential fluctuation or provide a lower margin of finance.

But it is certainly possible as my brother who is working in the UK also did the same thing

I have a friend who work in china and manage to secure loan last year.

1) advise to keep some FD in Malaysia bank so that success rate will be higher. In my friend case, he buy RM700k house and his FD is RM200 to RM300k

2) his document only accepted by certain bank due to it is in chinese. He checked around with the banks before searching house. Just check around with the bank for your case / situation before searching house.

3) or you can look for some mortgage loan agents, they can advise you base on your case.

Thank you for your replies. I got in touch with mortgage officers from several banks and they were happy for me to apply. I suppose it is considered on a case by case basis.

Hi there

Care to share some of your contacts with me? I am looking into refinancing my property but I am based overseas. Similar case as you.
